Mr. Dang Ha Viet said: "There are some teams of the Vietnamese delegation that have not completed their targets at the 32nd SEA Games. Like men's football or tennis, we both expected to win gold medals but both failed to complete their targets. With the U.22 Vietnam team, this is a period of generational transition so we did not have the best generation of players. The team was also unlucky in the semi-final match, allowing the opponent to score in the 6th minute of extra time.
In tennis, we expected Ly Hoang Nam to defend his championship title, but Nam suddenly suffered from acute gastritis and was not physically fit enough, so despite his best efforts, he could not overcome his opponent. Or in the case of the world's second-ranked boxer Nguyen Thi Tam, we set a target of winning a gold medal, but unfortunately, during the competition, Tam fell and was crushed by her opponent, leading to the risk of a torn ligament and being unable to continue competing... This congress had both success and regret."

Ly Hoang Nam unfortunately got hurt right before the men's singles tennis final match of SEA Games 32.
Nguyen Thi Tam was unfortunately injured.
The head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training emphasized: "The success of 16 basic sports in the Olympic competition system that Vietnamese athletes achieved at the 32nd SEA Games shows that Vietnamese sports are developing in the right direction set out in the Vietnam Sports Development Strategy to 2035. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to promote and be more bold in increasing investment in key sports and spearhead events, as well as having specific policies for these sports.
Despite competing successfully and winning gold medals in Olympic events, the achievements of Vietnamese athletes are still quite far behind those of the continent and the world. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on investing heavily in key athletes and coaches that the industry has identified and continue to search for new sports talents in the coming time to strive to win medals at the 2024 Olympics and the Asian Games (ASIAD), held in China this September."
Director General of General Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet
Mr. Dang Ha Viet expressed: "At the 32nd SEA Games, many excellent young athletes have appeared, achieving high results for the Vietnamese sports delegation, however, the number is still small, so we need to pay more attention to the training of young athletes... I also hope that the industry will mobilize resources from localities and sponsors to focus on investing in key sports and strong sports together with the state budget. The industry's orientation and also our desire is to coordinate resources from the state budget, resources from localities and resources from the whole society to develop the sports career. To do so, sports federations and associations need to improve their autonomy and be more proactive in calling for support from social resources. In June, we will hold a conference with federations and associations and then organize a workshop to discuss and implement solutions to improve the autonomy of federations and associations".
