(BGDT) - On the afternoon of May 30, at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to honor and reward Than The Cong, a 11th grade Physics major who just won the Bronze Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad. Attending the event were Mr. Mai Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Education and Training (DET), Department of Home Affairs, Provincial Association for Promoting Education, Bac Giang City People's Committee and relatives of Than The Cong.
The Asian Physics Olympiad was held from May 21-29 in Mongolia with 195 contestants from 26 countries and territories participating.
Than The Cong is the only 11th grader in the Vietnamese student team and has won a Bronze Medal. This achievement contributed to the Vietnamese team winning 4 Bronze Medals, 4 Certificates of Merit, and being one of 7 teams with 100% of contestants winning prizes.

Speaking here, comrade Mai Son congratulated and praised the outstanding achievements of Than The Cong and teachers of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted at the recent Asian Physics Olympiad.
This achievement has affirmed the right direction of the provincial education sector in discovering, nurturing and training excellent students, enhancing the image of Bac Giang province to international friends. This is also a clear demonstration of the continuous dedication of the teachers of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted.

Departments, sectors, localities, and the business community are interested in supporting the province's work of promoting learning and talent. The province will continue to pay attention and introduce new policies to contribute to encouraging and motivating teachers and students.
He suggested that the Department of Education and Training coordinate with Bac Giang Specialized High School to research and propose to the province appropriate mechanisms and policies to attract good teachers from localities to work at Bac Giang Specialized High School.

On this occasion, Comrade Mai Son presented a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a bonus of more than 16 million VND from the Provincial Emulation and Reward Fund and 50 million VND from the Than Nhan Trung Bac Giang Scholarship Fund to Than The Cong; presented a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a bonus of 30 million VND to teacher Nguyen Van Doa, the teacher who directly trained Cong.
The Department of Education and Training awarded a Certificate of Merit; the People's Committee of Bac Giang City and the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education awarded Cong many gifts. In addition, a representative of Bach Viet Group Joint Stock Company presented 50 million VND to Than The Cong.
