65km coastal road creates economic development boost

Over 90% project completed

In the early days of Spring 2024, the 65.58 km long coastal road, the section passing through Nam Dinh province, is gradually taking shape after nearly 3 years of construction.

According to the reporter's records on the 3rd day of Tet, although the construction work on the entire route is temporarily suspended during the Lunar New Year, the entire route is basically more than 90% complete, only waiting for completion of items such as road markings, installation of signs, railing systems...

Ms. Cao Thi Nhung (Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh) excitedly said: "Currently, the new road is wide, beautiful, with little traffic so it is very safe. We, the people, expect the road to not only meet traffic needs but also promote economic development and sea tourism in Hai Hau, Giao Thuy, and Nghia Hung districts."

As a son of Hai Hau, Nam Dinh, witnessing the daily changes of his hometown, Mr. Nguyen Manh Lam shared: "Hopefully the coastal road will soon be completed and put into use so that Nam Dinh can attract more and more businesses to invest in developing marine tourism; local people have the opportunity to increase their income thanks to the development of tourism services."

The coastal road project through Nam Dinh province has a total investment of about 2,700 billion VND; the total length of the route is 65.58 km; starting from KM0+00 in Giao Thien commune (Giao Thuy district), ending at KM65+580 in Nghia Hai commune (Nghia Hung district).

In which, the sections that overlap National Highway 37B, National Highway 21 and the Thinh Long bridge project section utilize the existing route, without investment.

The project passes through 3 districts of Nam Dinh province: Giao Thuy, Hai Hau and Nghia Hung with 24 communes and towns.

Maximizing the strengths of sea tourism

According to the Management Board of the coastal road project, the section through Nam Dinh province, the project's construction progress has reached over 90%. Previously, to keep up with the project's progress, the Management Board directed the contractor to concentrate machinery, equipment and human resources to urgently construct, and to arrange suitable shifts depending on the construction site. Up to now, the basic site of the coastal road project through 3 districts of Nam Dinh province has been cleared.

The project is put into operation to improve connectivity, shorten travel distance between Nam Dinh province and neighboring provinces, connect with the regional transportation network and the national traffic system, and promote the effective role of projects in the region that have been and are being implemented.

At the same time, create a breakthrough in socio-economic development, promote tourism development of the Nam Dinh marine economic zone in particular, of Nam Dinh province and the Red River Delta in general; ensure national defense and security, and prevent floods and storms.

Representatives of Nam Dinh province's leaders affirmed that the coastal route creates a breakthrough in socio-economic development, promoting tourism development in the Nam Dinh marine economic zone in particular, and in Nam Dinh province and the Red River Delta in general.
