After impressive performances in recent matches of the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup 2024, Nguyen Xuan Son emerged as an "internet phenomenon", attracting a lot of attention from the Vietnamese fan community.

Even information related to the life and interests of the player born in 1997 has become a searched topic, receiving a huge amount of interaction.

Most recently, a series of everyday photos capturing the moment Xuan Son bought fried banana cakes on the sidewalk of Nam Dinh city were posted on social media and immediately caused a "storm".

The image of a simple male player riding a motorbike and waiting to buy banana cake made many people excited because this is a familiar afternoon snack for many Vietnamese people, especially in winter.

This rustic snack is loved by the Brazilian player, who often seeks out and enjoys it.

It is known that the sidewalk fried banana cake shop that Xuan Son visited has been open for nearly 3 years, located at the intersection of Nguyen Du Street, opposite Nguyen Khuyen High School, Nam Dinh City.

Sharing with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Ha (born in 1992) - the shop owner confirmed that football player Xuan Son and his family often stop by to buy fried banana cakes.

“A few months ago, a sister of football player Xuan Son ordered banana cakes and asked me to deliver them to her house. Since then, the player and his wife have often come to buy fried banana cakes.

When he doesn’t have a competition schedule, Xuan Son comes to buy banana cakes almost every afternoon. If he’s busy, his wife comes to buy them. Each time they buy about 10, sometimes more,” Ms. Ha said.

The female shop owner further revealed that in real life, soccer player Xuan Son has a cheerful, open, and friendly personality. When he comes to buy banana cakes, he often chats with the shop owner in simple, humorous Vietnamese sentences.

“Most recently, before joining the national team, he also went by motorbike to buy fried banana cake. He also said he really liked this cake, praised it as delicious and promised to come back to buy more after the competition, when he returned to Nam Dinh,” she added.

Ms. Ha said that the restaurant's banana cake is made according to a Malaysian recipe.

The banana used to make the cake is the dwarf banana, which has a characteristic sweet and aromatic taste. The fried flour used is Malaysian flour, which helps the banana cake have a crispy crust but is still soft and easy to eat.

“Bananas are carefully selected bunch by bunch, ensuring they are sweet and ripe enough, not too ripe to avoid the bananas releasing honey and blackening the cake,” said the female owner.

The shop opens from 1pm to 7pm, selling an average of 200 cakes a day. In addition to banana cakes, the shop also serves sweet potato cakes with coconut milk.
