This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 4,906 young people joining the army. Of these, 3,956 are doing military service and 950 are doing public security service. Thousands of young people have volunteered to join the army this time.

At the military handover point held on the campus of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) in District 10, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai and a number of leaders of departments, branches, districts and armed forces of the city attended.
Secretary of District 10 Party Committee (HCMC) Le Van Minh congratulated the new recruits who passed the exam and left for the army on this occasion.
On behalf of the new recruits, young party member Nguyen Thanh Phong expressed his determination to train and contribute his youth to complete assigned tasks, worthy of being a soldier of Uncle Ho's Army.
49% of new recruits have university, college or secondary education
The Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council said the total official call-up for military service this year is 3,956 citizens, with 194 citizens in reserve.
Of these, 108 are party members and 90 are official party members, 85% of the new recruits have health levels 1 and 2. The number of young people with university, college, and intermediate degrees joining the army in 2024 is 1,924 people (nearly 49% of the target).
Localities also ensured that 950 people were assigned to perform their duty as People's Public Security officers. Of these, 11 were party members and 218 had university, college, and intermediate degrees (nearly 23%).

Previously, the District Youth Union and Thu Duc City Youth Union coordinated to organize a military camp for young people performing military service this year.

Many localities have paid attention to the military's rear policies, giving savings books and gifts to those who passed the exam. At the same time, they have supported the families of citizens who join the army and are in difficult circumstances.
A quick report shows that on the occasion of the 2024 Lunar New Year, many localities had delegations visit the families of selected citizens. On average, each person received money and gifts of about 6.4 million VND.

According to Tuoi Tre Online, the military enlistment ceremony in District 10 and Tan Binh District took place in a solemn and emotional atmosphere.
Seeing her boyfriend off to join the military, Thien Thanh (Binh Thanh district) was filled with thoughts because in the coming time, they would not have much time to care for each other. "I worry about him a lot. Two years is neither long nor short, but I will try to be a solid support so that he can confidently complete his sacred duty to the Fatherland," Thanh shared.
Looking at the car carrying her son about to leave, Ms. Tuyet Van (50 years old) confided: "My son is the only child in the family, so he is worried and sad when he goes like this. But what can I do? This is also an opportunity for my son to practice and develop. I just hope he is safe and strong."
Meanwhile, as one of the young men leaving for military service at the Tan Binh district military transfer point, Do Quan Chuan shared: “On the day of departure, I was sad to have to temporarily leave my family. However, I was still excited about the new and exciting things ahead.
I hope that what I learn in the military environment will help me become strong and a good citizen who is useful to society."

This year, young people in Ho Chi Minh City who passed the military service recruitment exam will join the following units: Naval Brigade 101, Naval Brigade 957, Naval Region 4 Training Center, Naval Region 2 Training Center, Division 377, Gia Dinh Regiment.
Six female citizens who volunteer for military service will be assigned to the Military School of Military Region 7.
