Tuan Anh and Duc Viet won Gold Medals at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Tournament

In the final of the U15 men's doubles, Nguyen Duc Viet and Nguyen Van Tuan Anh faced off against Lai Yong Ren and Chan Yi Jack (Malaysia). This was also the first gold medal match for the Vietnamese table tennis team at this year's Southeast Asian youth tournament.

The match was dramatic and exciting. The two Malaysian players took the lead after the first set ended. Immediately, coach Nguyen Tien Dung and the coaching staff made adjustments to help Duc Viet and Tuan Anh calm down mentally. The appropriate adjustments from the coaching staff helped our two young players play better and excellently beat their opponents in the next 3 sets. In the end, Duc Viet and Tuan Anh won the pair Lai Yong Ren, Chan Yi Jack (Malaysia). Nguyen Duc Viet is an athlete trained by Hai Duong table tennis while Nguyen Van Tuan Anh is a young player of Cong An Nhan Dan - T&T table tennis.

Previously, the Vietnamese youth table tennis team also won a bronze medal in the U15 women's doubles of Do Le Van Chi and Le Hoang Linh Dan.

In the individual event, Do Le Van Chi entered the semi-finals of the U15 women's singles and Nguyen Van Tuan Anh also entered the semi-finals of the U15 men's singles. This means that the Vietnamese team will definitely have at least 2 more bronze medals, when Van Chi and Tuan Anh will enter the final competition day tomorrow (April 22).

At the 2024 Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship, the Vietnamese team won 3 gold medals in the U15, U19 men's doubles and U19 men's singles. In addition, the team also won 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal in the U19 team event. 2 bronze medals in the U15 team event.

The 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship will take place from April 17 to April 22 in Indonesia. The Vietnamese table tennis team will participate in the tournament with 16 athletes, including: Le Gia Han, Nguyen Duc Viet, Nguyen Tat Thanh Dat, Do Le Van Chi, Nguyen Mau Quynh Na, Pham The Anh, Hoang Tra My, Vo Phuc Bao An, Nguyen Van Tuan Anh, Nguyen Hanh Ngan, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, Nong Duc Minh, Le Hoang Linh Dan, Nguyen Binh Tru, Tran Dieu Linh and Nguyen Hoang Lam. The athletes will compete in the categories of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, men's doubles, women's doubles, men's team, and women's team.
