From 2025, the High School Graduation Exam will have many changes.

NDO - On October 31, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Education and Training held a conference to review the organization of high school graduation exams for the 2020-2024 period and prepare for the high school graduation exam from 2025.

According to the Ministryof Education and Training, from 2024 onwards, the high school graduation exam will be implemented according to the 2006 General Education Program. 2025 is the first year the exam will implement the 2018 General Education Program.

To prepare well for the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that localities focus on the following main contents: leadership and direction from all levels; remote, early, and thoughtful preparation of facilities, equipment, and human resources; the process of organizing and implementing the exam; coordination between the education and training sector and forces outside the education sector; and communication work.

In the 2020-2024 period, the high school graduation exam will be organized with the same questions and the same session. The exam results will be used to consider graduation recognition and evaluate teaching quality; at the same time, provide reliable data for universities and vocational education institutions to use in enrollment.

Graduation recognition uses a combination of exam results and academic results at a ratio of 70-30.

However, the exam still has many limitations such as uneven exam results between years due to many reasons; the work of building a test bank still faces many difficulties; higher education institutions use many early admission methods, reserve few quotas with the admission method based on high school graduation exam results, leading to candidates with high scores still having no chance of being admitted...

Regarding the orientation of organizing the high school graduation exam from 2025, according to the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), the purpose of organization, exam subjects, exam format, and exam time are similar to the period 2020-2024.

The exam content closely follows the 2018 General Education Program, mainly grade 12.

Each candidate takes four exams, including two compulsory subjects: Literature and Math, and two elective subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12.

The exam has a new format structure, increasing differentiation. Graduation recognition will use the exam scores and the results of the three-year assessment of high school at a 50-50 ratio.

From 2025, all candidates can register online for the high school graduation exam, including independent candidates; foreign language certificates are exempted from the exam but cannot be converted into 10 points...

It is expected that in the 2025-2030 period, the exam will maintain the paper-based exam method, but after 2030, the computer-based exam will be gradually piloted in localities with sufficient conditions.

When all localities across the country have enough conditions to organize exams on computers, they will switch to organizing high school graduation exams on computers for multiple-choice subjects.
