In this attack, Iran claimed that they used Fattah supersonic missiles for the first time and that 90% of their missiles hit targets in Israel.

An Iranian news agency released a video on October 1 that allegedly shows a missile launch toward Israel that evening.

Along with replaying the video, British news agency Reuters said it could not independently verify the location and date of the footage.

Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel's campaign against Tehran's Hezbollah allies in Lebanon, Reuters added, prompting pledges of a strong response from both Israel and the United States.

According to Israel, more than 180 missiles were launched at Israel from Iran and Israel's missile defense system was activated to intercept them.

The US Department of Defense said that US Navy warships fired about 10 interceptor missiles at Iranian missiles headed towards Israel.

On Iran's side, the country's Revolutionary Guards announced that the attack on the evening of October 1 was in retaliation for Israel's recent killing of leaders of armed groups and aggressive actions in Lebanon and Gaza.

According to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, they used the Fattah hypersonic missile for the first time and 90% of their missiles hit targets in Israel.

There were no reports of casualties in Israel, but one man was killed in the occupied West Bank, according to officials there.

After the attack, the White House said that Iran's ballistic missile attack on Israel was "defeated and ineffective," and praised US participation in repelling some of the attacks.

Speaking to reporters, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan affirmed: “Based on what we know at this point, this attack appears to have been defeated and ineffective.”

The White House also issued a statement saying that President Joe Biden on October 1 ordered the US military to "support Israel's defense" and shoot down Iranian missiles.

Mr. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, both closely followed Iran's attack on Israel from the White House Situation Room.

Specifically, according to US officials, the country's destroyers joined the Israeli air force in fighting against Iran's ballistic missile attack.
