Phu Yen Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted gave gifts to 950 students, each worth 50,000 VND for the November 20th celebration.
On November 19, Mr. Huynh Tan Chau, principal of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted, said the total amount spent was about 50 million VND, taken from the school's socialized fund.
"This money has been transferred to each class so that the students can organize a party with their teachers on November 18," said Mr. Chau.
According to Mr. Chau, every November 20th, Vietnamese Teachers' Day, many students and parents feel invisible pressure to give gifts to teachers, especially those from families with difficult circumstances. Meanwhile, teachers no longer think about receiving gifts on this day. Therefore, last year, the school board came up with the idea of giving gifts to create a comfortable mindset for students.
"We want students to share the happy day without any pressure," said Mr. Chau.

Nguyen Khanh Ha, a 10th grade Literature student at Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted, was surprised when the school gave her 50,000 VND for the first time on November 20.
"With that money, my whole class was able to buy cakes and milk tea to celebrate with our teachers, the people who are guiding and teaching us many good things in life," Ha said.
In addition, on November 20, Luong Van Chanh Specialized School also awarded scholarships to 51 students who were selected to compete in the national excellent student competition, each worth two million VND.
Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted has a history of nearly 80 years, and is a place that has trained many excellent students in Phu Yen province. Here, students with difficult circumstances are exempted from tuition fees and supported to pay insurance from socialized funds.
