Information from the school said that out of 4,165 new students, 51 were admitted directly, many candidates had high scores in the competency assessment exam by Ho Chi Minh City National University (1,116 points), high scores in the high school graduation exam (29.4 points).
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Quan, Rector of the University of Natural Sciences (VNU-HCM), said that in this school year, more than 29,000 candidates registered for admission to the school. Of which, the school has selected more than 4,100 new students from 48 provinces and cities across the country.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Quan, this school year, the school has opened new majors in microchip design and semiconductor technology. These two majors will enroll for the first time in 2024 but have attracted a large number of candidates to apply.
The University of Natural Sciences is currently training 29 majors at the undergraduate level. In the past academic year, the university conducted ASIIN accreditation for 12 undergraduate training programs, including 4 programs of the Faculty of Information Technology, 2 programs of the Faculty of Chemistry, 2 programs of the Faculty of Biology - Biotechnology, 2 programs of the Faculty of Environment, 1 program of the Faculty of Geology, 1 program of the Department of Oceanography, and the Faculty of Physics - Technical Physics. Thus, up to now, the university has had 15 training programs accredited according to ASIIN.
The school's scientific research achievements have many highlights. In 2023 - 2024, the school's faculty and researchers have been carrying out more than 300 scientific research topics/projects at all levels, publishing more than 1,315 scientific works in international journals.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of VNU-HCM, emphasized that in the context of climate change, natural disasters and epidemics, especially the consequences of the recent Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3), it is necessary to deeply understand the role of science and technology in forecasting, minimizing risks and building a sustainable society. These are areas in which the University of Natural Sciences has great potential to develop and contribute.
The leaders of VNU-HCM hope that the school will continue to attract talent, develop new, interdisciplinary and attractive majors, focus on breakthrough research, meet the needs of science and technology development and national sustainable development. At the same time, the school needs to promote cooperation with member universities to effectively implement training programs, contributing to the overall development of the VNU-HCM system.
