In addition to the subjects in the physical education program, students of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) are encouraged to participate in sports clubs and outside competitions.
Build a pickeball field for students, make swimming mandatory
The most obvious goal of helping students have good health is the activities that help students practice physical training in the university environment. This policy is clearly shown in the messages that university presidents send to students.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tu Anh, Principal of the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said that the school always tries to create a fun working environment and a dynamic learning space for students so that everyone can move towards the motto "every day at school is a joy". One of the school's efforts during the school year is to strengthen the student care system to provide more support, provide more services, increase the art space, music space, and pickeball playground for students.
For students, the Principal of the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) believes that in order to be successful, students must set goals and invest in them immediately. One issue is emphasized: "Invest in your health, go to the gym regularly and don't stay up late to play games. Remember to cherish your health and life."
University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) organizes 7 subjects including: volleyball, basketball, badminton, chess, Chinese chess, Vovinam, football
With the motto of educating the whole person, Ton Duc Thang University cares about training the health of students. Therefore, the school has invested in sports training as the main solution for students to have a healthy body, helping them achieve better learning results. In addition to major annual activities, in 2024, the school will continue to host the 2nd National Vietnamese Youth Student Football Tournament. In the 2023-2024 school year, students of this university won many domestic and international sports awards.
In the curriculum, students are required to participate in and complete physical education courses. In addition to traditional subjects, many universities have now included pickleball as an optional subject in physical education courses such as: University of Water Resources, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, Hoa Sen University, etc.
Notably, there are schools that have made swimming a compulsory subject for students. For example, since 2012, Ton Duc Thang University has officially included swimming in its physical education curriculum. According to the school's regulations, students must complete 3 sports, of which swimming is a compulsory subject and 2 elective subjects out of 16 other subjects. To be eligible for graduation, one of the requirements is to pass the swimming test, at least 25m (for women) and 50m (for men). In some other schools, swimming is one of the elective subjects in the physical education curriculum, such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
Students are well taken care of not only physically but also mentally through healing spaces.
Creating a "healing space" for students
