On September 27, during talks with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing wants to upgrade its comprehensive strategic partnership with Egypt.

Wang stressed China's readiness to implement the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and work toward building a community with a shared future. The Chinese foreign minister also proposed strengthening coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to safeguard the interests of developing countries.
In response, Foreign Minister Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt is ready to cooperate with China to implement bilateral agreements. He welcomed the continued participation of Chinese enterprises in Egypt's modernization process.
Both sides spoke highly of the steady development of bilateral relations under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, demonstrating their determination to bring the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
On the same day, during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the UN to promote world peace and development.
Mr. Wang Yi congratulated the UN Secretary-General on the success of convening the Future Summit. The adoption of the Compact for the Future reflects the common aspirations of most countries and is a document that embodies the principles of multilateralism.
Mr. Wang Yi emphasized that maintaining the authority of the UN and enabling this multilateral organization to play a core role in international issues is more important than ever, in the context of an increasingly complicated international situation along with increasing global challenges and risks.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi also emphasized China's support for the UN in actively seeking solutions to the Ukraine crisis and the Gaza conflict, so that the UN can better maintain world peace and security.
For his part, appreciating China's long-standing support for the UN and Beijing's active contribution to the Future Summit, Mr. Guterres expressed hope that all parties will turn their commitments into actions and jointly implement the Future Compact.
