China's installation of three signal buoys in the Truong Sa archipelago violates Vietnam's sovereignty

(HNMO) - On the evening of May 25, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially spoke out about China's installation of three signal buoys in the Truong Sa archipelago.

Specifically, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the installation of three signal buoys by the Maritime Safety Assurance Center of the Chinese Ministry of Transport on some entities in Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago, Deputy Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized:

"Vietnam has full legal basis and historical evidence to affirm its sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law. The installation of signal buoys on entities in the Truong Sa archipelago without Vietnam's consent is a violation of Vietnam's sovereignty over the archipelago, and therefore has no legal value.

Vietnam requests that relevant parties not take actions that complicate the situation, respect Vietnam's sovereignty, respect international law, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and maintain a peaceful, stable and cooperative environment in the East Sea."
