Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Vu Manh Ha, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum emphasized: Exactly 50 years ago, at 11:30 on April 30, 1975, after 55 days and nights of "lightning speed, boldness, surprise, and sure victory", the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberated the South, reunified the country, and ended gloriously the 30-year heroic resistance war against foreign invaders of the Vietnamese people. That was the greatest achievement of the cause of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by President Ho Chi Minh, and was one of the glorious and brilliant pages of history on the path of building and defending the country for thousands of years of the nation, opening an era of independence, freedom, unity, building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization".

According to Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Vu Manh Ha, with more than 300 photos, documents, and typical artifacts, including original documents and artifacts introduced to the public for the first time, the special exhibition "A Country Full of Joy" opens with the context after the Geneva Agreement in 1954, Vietnam was divided into two regions, with the 17th Parallel as the boundary. The North was completely liberated, advancing towards socialism.

In the South, the US imperialists replaced the French colonialists in invasion, turning the South into a new type of colony, a US military base in order to establish a defense line to prevent and repel socialism in Southeast Asia. But with the truth "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one", "The South is the blood of Vietnamese blood, the flesh of Vietnamese flesh", the entire Vietnamese people were always united, determined to fight and defeat the invading US imperialists, to complete the goal of national reunification, the people of the North and the South reunited under one roof. The just struggle of the Vietnamese people received great support and assistance from international friends, from peace-loving and progressive forces around the world. In January 1973, we forced the Americans to sign the Paris Agreement on ending the war, restoring peace in Vietnam, and withdrawing all US and vassal troops from the South of our country.

From the consecutive victories on the Southern battlefield in 1974 and early 1975, the Communist Party of Vietnam determined that the opportunity to liberate the South had come, and decided to launch a strategic offensive to completely liberate the South and unify the country. Based on the preparation of position and strength, the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising began on March 4, 1975 with the campaigns: Central Highlands, Hue - Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh Campaign. In which, the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign was the final strategic decisive battle.

At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, our army captured the Independence Palace, the last stronghold of the Saigon puppet government. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign was a complete victory, the liberation flag fluttered on the roof of the Independence Palace. The entire Vietnamese people rejoiced in the joy of victory, North and South reunited, the country was united.

The great victory in the spring of 1975 opened a new era for the nation - the era of independence, unification and the building of a rich, strong and civilized socialist Vietnam. Promoting the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, determination, courage and creativity to overcome all difficulties and challenges, seize advantages and opportunities; after 50 years of liberating the South, reunifying the country and nearly 40 years of implementing the cause of Renovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration, our entire Party, people and army have achieved many important achievements, true to the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh: "On the day of victory, our people will rebuild our country to be more dignified and more beautiful!".
