On October 17, speaking with VietNamNet reporters, the leader of the Chau Duc District People's Committee (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) said that he had just issued an urgent document, directing the investigation and handling of a daring property theft case at a resident's house in Ngai Giao town.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 16, Ms. Ha Thi Thuy Hong (42 years old, residing in Phu Giao quarter, Ngai Giao town) reported to the authorities that a thief broke into her house and stole many valuable assets.
Ms. Hong said that at noon that same day, the thief took advantage of the heavy rain to break down the wall, then broke into the house, broke open the safe and stole property including cash, many bracelets and gold rings, with a total estimated value of about 100 million VND.
Upon receiving the report, local police arrived at the scene and extracted camera footage to investigate the incident.

Chairman of Chau Duc District People's Committee Nguyen Tan Ban also directed the district police to urgently investigate and handle the perpetrator according to the law.
On October 18, Chau Duc District Police said that through investigation and professional measures, by the evening of October 17, they had identified the subject who committed the above theft as Nguyen Dong Giang (22 years old, residing in Binh Ba Commune, Chau Duc District). At the police station, Giang admitted to committing the theft.
The police have recovered the gold jewelry in the case. The case is under further investigation.
