The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on February 28 that the country's leader, Mr. Kim Jong Un, supervised the test launch of a strategic cruise missile that took place on February 26.

According to KCNA, the test was aimed at warning "enemies who are intensifying the atmosphere of confrontation and encroaching on the security environment of the DPRK" and to clearly demonstrate the readiness to use various types of nuclear weapons.

Kim Jong Un stressed that the most complete deterrence and defense are guaranteed by powerful offensive power... and the task and mission of the nuclear-armed forces in the DPRK is to permanently defend the country's sovereignty and security.
