Busting a prostitution ring with 200 models serving foreign customers in Ho Chi Minh City

On December 30, the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC02) said that the unit had just coordinated with Department PA08 and District 5 Police to destroy a prostitution ring organized in Fortune restaurant (1127 Tran Hung Dao, Ward 5, District 5) led by Zhang Lei (48 years old, Chinese nationality).

Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has arrested 7 people for investigation into prostitution brokerage, including: Zhang Lei (restaurant owner), Dinh Thi Thanh Tuyen, Nguyen Huu Chi, Nguyen Quoc Anh, Do Xuan Hoang, Le Thi Diem and Tran Thi Thuy Lieu.

According to PC02, through the investigation, the police discovered that Fortune restaurant was organizing prostitution. Every day, the establishment receives hundreds of customers who come to eat and buy sex with the restaurant's waitresses, mainly serving foreign customers (mostly Chinese people from China and Malaysia). There are about 200 female waitresses serving here.

This prostitution ring operates with sophisticated tricks under the guise of an unlicensed restaurant and karaoke business. The price for prostitution is from 5 million VND/time and 12 million VND/night.

On December 17, the Criminal Police Department coordinated with the PA08 Department and District 5 Police to inspect the Fortune restaurant and discovered many female attendants going out to sell sex to guests at hotels. Continuing to inspect the Phung Hoang and Valentine hotels, the authorities discovered 5 couples of men and women buying and selling sex.

Searching Zhang Lei's private home, the Criminal Police Department discovered that he was keeping nearly 22 billion VND in cash earned from prostitution brokerage activities.

The Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police is continuing to step up the eradication of criminal gangs in general and prostitution crimes in particular.
