Accordingly, on January 6, the City Center for Disease Control received 55,000 doses of tuberculosis vaccine (BCG), 25,000 doses of hepatitis B vaccine, 36,000 doses of oral polio vaccine (bOPV), 23,000 doses of measles vaccine, 18,000 doses of measles-rubella (MR) vaccine, 9,700 doses of Japanese encephalitis vaccine, 34,100 doses of diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT) combination vaccine and 30,300 doses of tetanus vaccine from the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City provided by the National Expanded Immunization Project.

After receiving additional vaccines, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector will organize to strengthen the implementation of regular vaccination activities according to the schedule and proactively increase the number of vaccination sessions to compensate for children who have not been fully vaccinated during the vaccination interruption period to improve community immunity, proactively prevent epidemics in the situation where vaccine-preventable infectious diseases are likely to re-emerge if community immunity declines.

Many children have received additional vaccinations in recent times.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to implement the 5-in-1 vaccination campaign for children on January 8-9 for children 2 months and older who have not been vaccinated and children who have not received enough 5-in-1 vaccinations (2nd and 3rd doses). The remaining vaccines will then be transferred to regular vaccination activities.

Starting from January 10, all health stations in the city will organize a campaign to vaccinate children from 9 months to 24 months old who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of measles. Other vaccines will be included in the regular vaccination. The vaccination schedule and specific subjects will be updated by the City Center for Disease Control on the website https://hcdc.vn.

Previously, with 8,100 doses of 5-in-1 vaccine received on December 28, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City quickly launched a vaccination campaign for children from 2 months to 18 months old right after the 2024 New Year holiday. As of the end of January 6, 5,119 children were brought by their parents to the Health Station to receive the first dose (2,831 children), the second dose (1,759 children) and the third dose (529 children).

However, because the vaccination was implemented right after the New Year, many children who returned to their hometowns with their families did not have time to return to the city or their parents did not have time to take their children for vaccination. In addition, there were also some children whose parents had registered for vaccination service packages, or children who had to postpone vaccination due to acute illnesses, leading to a low rate of children receiving the first injection, at 44.79% compared to the number of children from 2 to 18 months old who had not received the first injection and had registered, which was 6,321 children.

It is known that in the past time, the City Center for Disease Control has guided and deployed to the Medical Centers to guide the Medical Stations to review and strictly manage the list of children of vaccination age, ready to invite them for vaccination when the vaccine is supplied. Vaccination work is fully deployed in 22 districts, Thu Duc city with vaccination points in 310 wards/communes/towns, district hospitals and some city-level hospitals.
