This afternoon, January 12, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) held a conference to deploy work in 2024. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam attended the conference.

In 2023, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism promoted the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, creativity and determination in management, operation, implementation of functions and tasks, ensuring achievement and exceeding the set plan.
In particular, the department has successfully advised on organizing activities to celebrate major holidays that have left a deep impression on Party and State leaders, people, domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promoting the image, enhancing the position and prestige of Quang Tri province such as: National Reunification Festival 2023 and Opening of Quang Tri tourist season 2023; commemorating the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam; successfully coordinating the organization of the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone of South Vietnam in Quang Tri; commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of General Doan Khue... The Provincial People's Committee's staff issued Plan No. 233/KH-UBND dated December 10, 2023 to organize the first Festival for Peace in 2024, and at the same time prepared conditions to organize the festival.
Sports activities are increasingly developing, diversified in form and specialized in content. The provincial sports delegation for people with disabilities participating in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games for people with disabilities won 13 medals. Athletes participating in the Asian Youth Rowing Championship won 1 Gold medal; the Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championship won 1 Silver medal.
In 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism sets out the following key tasks: Continue to effectively implement Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated June 4, 2020 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 of the 9th Conference of the Central Executive Committee of the Party (11th tenure) on "Developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development"; Conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Advise the provincial leaders to successfully organize activities within the framework of the 2024 Peace Festival. Organize the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri. Continue to effectively implement Resolution 167/NQ-HDND dated December 9, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council on investment, restoration, and prevention of degradation of the historical and cultural relic system of Quang Tri province, period 2022-2025.
Promote the restructuring of the tourism industry towards professionalism, quality and sustainability; enhance the competitiveness of tourism businesses. Continue to implement the Digital Transformation Project in the tourism sector; National Target Program in Project 6 "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development".
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam praised the outstanding efforts of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism over the past year with positive results.
It is recommended that in the coming time, the sector closely follow the work program of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be proactive in implementing tasks to achieve the highest results. Focus on the tasks: well organizing cultural, sports and tourism activities to serve political tasks, celebrate major holidays and important events of the province and the country, first of all, activities to celebrate the Party, celebrate spring, and welcome the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.
With the first Peace Festival held in 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the Provincial People's Committee to work with central ministries and branches to unify the content and specific programs for each activity of the festival. Thereby, combining with the organization of activities to celebrate major holidays and events in 2024 to ensure practicality, economy and efficiency.
Continue to advise on the effective implementation of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life". Effectively implement resolutions and action programs of the central and local governments on developing tourism to soon become a spearhead economic sector.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the emulation flag to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals; the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective, certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 2 individuals; the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 9 individuals with outstanding achievements in 2024.
