On the morning of January 12, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son presented the Prime Minister's decision to transfer the National Economics University to the National Economics University.
Also at the ceremony, the Minister of Education and Training awarded the decisions recognizing the University Council, Chairman of the Council, and Director of the National Economics University.
Accordingly, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Chairman of the Council of the National Economics University, becomes Chairman of the Council of the National Economics University.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, President of National Economics University, becomes Director of National Economics University.
The above decisions are effective from the date of signing (December 13, 2024).

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of the National Economics University said that the transition to the university model today affirms the position and role of the school in higher education. In its development journey, the National Economics University has always been proud to train tens of thousands of managers, economic experts and business leaders, actively contributing to the country's innovation.
In recent years, the school has always been a pioneer in digital transformation, in-depth investment, applying information technology to management, teaching and scientific research. The school cooperates with many international organizations, achieving prestigious quality accreditations from ACBSP, FIBAA, AUN, affirming its reputation in the international arena.
Towards the new stage, the school continues to focus on comprehensive development in teaching, scientific research and international cooperation. New training programs will continue to be implemented, ensuring progress, keeping up with internationalization trends and being suitable for practical needs.
"The combination of scientific research and practical application will be enhanced, contributing to solving socio-economic problems, especially in the context of increasingly deep digital transformation and international integration," emphasized Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong.
The National Economics University also aims to maintain its leading position in the Vietnamese higher education system, while increasing its presence and influence in the international arena. At the same time, it aims to build an open academic environment that encourages creativity and innovation, helping students not only learn knowledge but also practice practical skills.

According to Professor Chuong, in recent years, the school has always been a pioneer in digital transformation, in-depth investment, and application of information technology in management, teaching, and scientific research. The school has cooperated with many international organizations and achieved many prestigious international quality accreditations.
With the establishment of 3 schools: Economics and Public Administration, Business, Technology; National Economics University has made a great change; demonstrating a strategic vision, becoming a smart, modern university.
The university director added that in recent years, the school has prioritized digital transformation, in-depth investment, and the application of information technology in management, teaching, and scientific research. Currently, the National Economics University has deployed and is moving towards computer-based testing and learning.
The school's in-depth and persistent investments in scientific research have yielded great results. The number of publications in prestigious international journals has increased rapidly over the years, reaching over 300 in 2024. Notably, in 2023, the school's Journal of Economics and Development was included in the Scopus index.
On November 15, 2024, the Prime Minister signed a decision to convert the National Economics University into the National Economics University. This will be a public service unit under the Ministry of Education and Training, with legal status, its own seal and account.
The Government requires the National Economics University to reorganize its organizational structure and operations in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and relevant legal regulations. During that process, the National Economics University must ensure the legitimate rights and interests of relevant parties, operate normally, and avoid negativity, loss, and waste of finance and assets.
National Economics University becomes the 9th university in Vietnam, along with Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Duy Tan University. Of which, Duy Tan University is the first private university in our country.
