Awarding ceremony of the international painting contest "I love Hanoi - City for Peace"

On the evening of August 29, at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic Site, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (UU) awarded prizes to the International Children's Painting Contest "I Love Hanoi - City for Peace".

This is also one of the annual activities organized by the Union to create a creative playground for Vietnamese and international children. Participating in the contest, children draw pictures expressing their love for Hanoi - City for Peace, Creative City, about people and life, and the beautiful nature of Hanoi. The contest is for Vietnamese and international children aged 5 to 16 years old living and studying in Hanoi.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong said that after 1 month of launching, the contest received nearly 300 entries. The paintings have high aesthetic value, expressing love for Hanoi, love for peace from the very pure, innocent perspective of children.

Many students boldly used impressive colors and modern drawing styles to create works with unique painting styles, making a strong impression on the judges.

The Organizing Committee highly appreciated and acknowledged the active participation of the Embassies of the following countries: UK, Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar, Norway, Philippines; schools in the capital such as United Nations International School (UNIS), Horizon International Bilingual School and Ngo Sy Lien Secondary School (Hoan Kiem District)...

With a spirit of urgent and serious work, the Jury selected 60 entries for the final round, from which 1 Special Prize, 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 7 Third Prizes and 10 Encouragement Prizes were selected. Of which, the Special Prize was awarded to Devanka Morritz, 11 years old from the Indonesian Embassy; the First Prize was awarded to Phohne Myat Thaw, from the Myanmar Embassy and Nguyen Anh Thy, 12 years old, a student of Ngo Sy Lien Secondary School.

The winning works out of nearly 300 paintings entered in the contest were displayed by the Organizing Committee at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic Site from August 29 to September 1 for the public of the capital and international visitors to admire.

* Also in the series of activities to celebrate the 57th anniversary of ASEAN's founding, the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by UNESCO as a "City for Peace", on the evening of August 29, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in coordination with the Embassy of Laos (the rotating ASEAN Chair in 2024) and ASEAN countries in Vietnam organized the photo exhibition "Colors of ASEAN culture".

According to Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Ky, the exhibition is a unique art event, gathering photographic works from countries in the ASEAN community, displaying 57 photos about the countries, people, historical relics, and landscapes of ASEAN countries; about some memorable activities of ASEAN leaders.

The photos displayed on the Lantern Street in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel relic site create a journey to discover the beauty of each country for the people of the capital and international friends.
