Ban Van Truong, a student at Coc Lau Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, recalled the horrifying memories that happened to his family when the flood came to Kho Vang village, Coc Lau commune. The flood swept away his house and his beloved grandfather and father. The government and functional agencies searched for many days and nights before finding Truong's father's body and burying him, but Truong's grandfather has not been found yet.
Ly Thi Thuy Van, a student at Nam Luc Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, lost her parents and siblings and is currently living with her uncle. Van's uncle, Ly Seo Di, brought her to the program.
"Coming here today, seeing the children dancing, singing, talking and laughing makes me happy. But inside I am very sad, my whole family is gone, my siblings are all dead. I am raising 3 very young grandchildren by myself," Mr. Dì choked up.
Touched by the affection and sharing of the organizers, Mr. Duong Van Thang, Principal of Coc Lau Primary Boarding School, sent his thanks to the benefactors.
“In these difficult times, the encouragement and support from Tien Phong newspaper and benefactors has lit up hope and greatly encouraged the students. This is an unforgettable program for the students and their families affected by the storm,” said Mr. Thang.
