On the evening of May 13, Hari Won attended the awards ceremony of the Asian Film Festival - Da Nang to represent Tran Thanh in receiving the award for 'Best Director' for the film Mrs. Nu's House - the work with the highest box office revenue in Vietnam to date with 475 billion VND, even though it was only released in January 2023.
Hari Won shared in Vietnamese very sincerely on stage, although not fluently: "Today, my husband is filming the show Rap Viet, so he is not here. My husband said: 'Husband and wife are one, if I can't go, can you go for me to take care of the crew and pay for the film crew?'. I thought that was all, but I came here to receive the award on my behalf, so I feel very honored. I have seen my husband's process of making the film. During the day, he went out to discuss the script, and when he came home, there were still many things he didn't understand, so at 3-4 am, my husband didn't let me sleep. He only let me sleep when he finished discussing all the work. This time, I received the award on behalf of my husband, and I feel that the difficulties were compensated."
Hari Won received the Best Film award (Vietnamese Film category) with her sister-in-law Uyen An and actress Kha Nhu on behalf of Tran Thanh. "Hari thinks this is an encouragement for Tran Thanh to work more. My husband is an art lover. I want my husband to receive this kind of encouragement to work all his life."
However, the girl born in 1992, Ha Le Diem, was the one who received the biggest award at the Asian Film Festival - Da Nang. The documentary The Children in the Mist directed by her surpassed the famous Korean film that competed at Cannes 2022 - The Broker, to receive the Best Film award in the Asian Film Competition category.
This is Ha Le Diem's first feature-length documentary. On the podium, the young director thanked Ma Thi Di - the main character of the film - and her friends in the H'Mong community. Ha Le Diem received the award in a dress made by Ma Thi Di herself. She thanked the two producers who accompanied her for 4 years from 2017-2021 to complete Children in the Mist.
"Dem toi roc" is the film that received the most awards with the Special Jury Prize, Best Actor (Huynh Kien An), Best Actress (Nha Uyen) and Best Screenplay (Nha Uyen and Aaron Toronto). On the podium, both actor Huynh Kien An and director Aaron Toronto thanked their wives. Actor Huynh Kien An's wife is originally from Da Nang and Aaron Toronto's wife is actress and screenwriter Nha Uyen.
Unfortunately, the film "Glorious Ashes" by director Bui Thac Chuyen, although winning the highest award at the Tri-Continent Film Festival in France, was only named in one category for Best Actress (Juliet Bao Ngoc Doling) at the Asian Film Festival - Da Nang this time.
