Tran Quyet Chien stopped at the quarter-finals
On the afternoon of November 9, Tran Quyet Chien took the field in the quarter-finals of the Seoul Billiards World Cup 2024 (held in Korea), meeting the host country's player Kim Jun-tae. Before entering the round for the 8 strongest players, Tran Quyet Chien was in good form with a record of 4 wins (including 3 matches in the group stage and 1 knockout match in the round of 16). On the other hand, Kim Jun-tae is also emerging as a "phenomenon" at the tournament held at home, when he continuously released big series of points. In the round of 32 held on November 8, Kim Jun-tae almost broke the world record with an extremely rare series of 28 points.
Unlike previous matches, Tran Quyet Chien started the match quite slowly when facing Kim Jun-tae. In the 4th round, the Korean player had a series of 7 points, to take the lead 12-5. The gap gradually increased, when Kim Jun-tae led Quyet Chien 15-10, 18-10, 22-13.

In the 17th turn, Kim Jun-tae had 5 points and took the lead 39-29. Although Tran Quyet Chien had opportunities, he could not make the most of them to score points, partly due to bad luck in many situations. In the end, Kim Jun-tae defeated Tran Quyet Chien with a score of 50-33, after 25 turns. The Korean player won a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2024 Seoul Billiards World Cup.
