Content of Buried Heart in previous episode
Episode 2 of Buried in My Heart opens with Eun-nam preparing for her wedding. Il-do appears and reveals that Eun-nam is the daughter of Deok-hui and her first husband. Il-do was once a close friend of Eun-nam's father, and both of them were involved in the accident that killed her father. He reveals that both he and Eun-nam's mother know about her relationship with Dong-ju. Il-do asks if Dong-ju will be a problem, and Eun-nam insists that he is not a clingy person.
Back at the wedding, Dong-ju is dragged away and locked in a small room. He receives a text message from Eun-nam, which she had scheduled beforehand. She advises him to take revenge and find another woman, because she deserves it.
Dong-ju is then allowed to return to his post on the condition that he does not cause a scene. He confronts Eun-nam, curses her, and returns the watch. Eun-nam reveals that it is real, not a fake, and that she chose this marriage for Daesan. Dong-ju asks if she loves him, and Eun-nam replies that the marriage she wants does not require love. She leaves, and Dong-ju picks up the watch.
Dong-ju then goes to a church and meets Sister Agnes, who seems to be like family. She calls him Stephanus and comforts him when he finds out he's been abandoned. After receiving a call from Chairman Cha, Dong-ju goes to get soju to put in the office safe.
A flashback from 8 years ago shows Gi-hyeon and Dong-ju meeting with Chairman Cha to inform him of the error in Daesan Energy's report. When Dong-ju agrees to drink soju with the Chairman, he shows him the safe and the bottles of soju inside. That's when the audience learns that Dong-ju has an extraordinary memory. In the present, Dong-ju brings soju to the safe but finds that the code has changed.
Meanwhile, the staff at Cha's house cleans the living room at Eun-nam's request. She runs into her brother Tae-yun and mother, realizing they both know about her relationship with Dong-ju. The family gathers for dinner, and Eun-nam is surprised when Chairman Cha invites Dong-ju to attend.
The next morning, Dong-ju wakes up with a headache. He learns that he drank too much at dinner. He goes to the office and finds the secret meeting room. Inside one of the walls is another safe, but Dong-ju can't open it either. Chairman Cha appears and reveals that he knows the truth.
Another flashback shows Yeom Jang-seon telling Chairman Cha about Eun-nam and Dong-ju, asking him to expel Dong-ju from Daesan in exchange for the wedding going smoothly. In the present, Chairman Cha says he wants to see if Dong-ju has any motives for Eun-nam. Dong-ju tells the whole story and offers to resign, but Chairman Cha does not accept. He drives Dong-ju to a bakery where one employee is Ji Yeong-su, a newscaster who has mysteriously disappeared. Another employee is Ji Seon-u, her son and also Chairman Cha's illegitimate son. He wants to make Ji Seon-u the official heir.
Back at Cha's house, Deok-hui realizes that Tae-yun was close to Dong-ju. A flashback shows that Tae-yun once helped Dong-ju learn to play the violin for Eun-nam, and that's when he learned the truth about them. Chairman Cha returns home and talks to Il-do, who still insists that he get rid of Dong-ju.
Dong-ju, now knowing the new safe combination, goes to the safe inside the office and takes out a large sum of money and gold. He gives it to Yeom Jang-seon, who recognizes it as the payment Chairman Cha made to not fire Dong-ju. Yeom shows disbelief even when Dong-ju says he will not interfere with Eun-nam's decision.
Before leaving, Yeom's right-hand man asks Dong-ju about the matter with Manager Yoo at Daesan. Later, at the office, Chairman Cha announces that the board members think that Il-do's appointment as vice chairman was too hasty. He appoints Director Choi Gi-hyeon as acting vice chairman. Il-do appears bitter and seems to blame Dong-ju. He informs Yeom Jang-seon of this news, who also blames Dong-ju.
Dong-ju then goes to Manager Yoo's house as directed by Yeom. He finds the door unlocked and enters. Inside, a man with a knife attacks Dong-ju. During the fight, he also discovers Manager Yoo's body. Dong-ju eventually knocks down the attacker. When the attacker answers the call, Dong-ju hears a voice asking if he is dead, ending the dramatic second episode of Buried Heart.
