The conflict escalates when Jang Seon becomes angry that Chairman Cha gave the vice chairman position to Gi Hyeon instead of one of his men. In a fit of rage, Jang Seon beats Il Do and a flashback reveals how they first met: a young Il Do was beaten by the police, then Jang Seon appeared and tortured him as well. In the present, Il Do is bleeding from the beating and is questioned by Jang Seon about letting Dong Ju survive; Il Do blames Tae Yun's presence for his mistake. At the bakery, Ji Seon U tells her mother, Ji Yeong Su, about the incident with Chairman Cha, but they are threatened by Deok Hui to stay away from Daesan and Dong Ju. Dong Ju then meets Ji Yeong Su, proposing that she legally marry Chairman Cha so that Seon U can have a position in the company, and together they reveal the truth about Seon U's father. He then meets Tae Geum, a hacker who helps him get information from Il Do's phone, discovering a photo of the young Seong Hyeon with Il Do, Sun Ho and Kang Seong, along with Il Do and Jang Seon's real estate listings.

Dong Ju interrogates Yang Chun, who he holds captive, and learns about the Dandelion team – a secret NSA unit that has been spying on powerful figures, including Jang Seon. He then meets Oh Jung Ho, the former leader of Dandelion, and offers to exchange Jang Seon's file for Yang Chun's, but Jung Ho plots to kill Yang Chun after a phone call arranged by Won Bae. Dong Ju stops them in time, locking them both up, although Jung Ho leaves behind a mysterious hint about his father. At the end of the episode, Dong Ju investigates his background through Madame Pi, discovering that he is not the biological son of Lee Sup Yung and Ko You Jin, but was adopted with a box of clues, including an identical photo in Il Do's phone.
