Information from the Vietnam Coconut Association on September 27 said that a Vietnamese coconut industry enterprise has just signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding with leading organizations and associations on fruits and coconuts in China to export fresh coconuts to this country.
Thus, just over 1 month after the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Department of Customs of China officially signed 3 important Protocols on exporting agricultural products, including fresh coconuts, to the Chinese market, Vietnamese businesses quickly seized the opportunity.

Specifically, the Vietnam Coconut Association said that in the trade promotion program at the Guangzhou International Fruit and Vegetable Industry Exhibition (China), Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex), under the introduction of the Vietnam Coconut Association, represented the Vietnamese coconut industry to sign strategic Memorandums of Understanding to export fresh coconuts to this country.
According to the strategic cooperation agreement, Betrimex will be the exclusive partner of the Chamber of Commerce in supplying and importing fresh coconuts to the Guangzhou market, China. The two sides commit to working closely to ensure a stable supply and product quality that meets export standards. At the same time, both sides will also coordinate to implement trade promotion, advertising and communication activities to enhance brand awareness and expand market share for Vietnamese fresh coconut products, not only in Guangzhou but also throughout the Chinese market.
According to Mr. Cao Ba Dang Khoa - General Secretary of the Vietnam Coconut Association, immediately after the protocol was issued, we have continuously made efforts to connect Vietnamese businesses with Chinese partners.
The Vietnam Coconut Association predicts that with the signing of the Protocol allowing the official export of fresh coconuts to China, the export turnover of fresh coconuts this year could reach 250 million USD, accounting for 25% of the total export turnover of the coconut industry.
Mr. Khoa also said that China is currently the main market, receiving more than 60% of Thailand's coconut output. The appearance of fresh Vietnamese coconut will create an interesting competition, requiring businesses to pay special attention to product quality to win the trust of customers. "Only then can we turn these memorandums of understanding into real value, bringing long-term benefits to the Vietnamese coconut industry," Mr. Khoa emphasized.
Within the framework of the promotion meeting, Betrimex and the Vietnam Coconut Association also signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an Information Exchange Center with the Hainan Coconut Association (China) in Vietnam. This center will be a bridge to exchange information on the market, products and supply sources of coconut products with the aim of promoting trade and increasing export turnover between the two sides.
