On October 19, at Vo Truong Toan High School (District 12), the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, together with the Department of Education and Training, jointly organized the Opening Ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education (VET) Recruitment and Career Orientation Festival 2024.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Thinh, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "Streamlining students after junior high school contributes to providing human resources suitable to the needs of the economy, creating a highly skilled workforce to participate in the city's labor market."
According to Mr. Le Van Thinh, in recent years, the contribution of human resources graduated from vocational schools to the city's socio-economic development has been enormous. Human resources with vocational education qualifications account for a high proportion in the human resource structure of domestic and foreign corporations and companies operating in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Thinh said that this series of vocational education recruitment and career guidance days was carried out simultaneously in 22 districts and Thu Duc city.
At each festival location, in addition to the consulting program of educational experts, there are also consulting booths of vocational education institutions based in the districts where the festival is held.
According to the Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, through the vocational education recruitment and career guidance fairs, students and parents will be consulted and have detailed answers to questions about choosing a school and career that suits their abilities.
This is an important activity to effectively implement the coordination program between the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Education and Training of the city in the work of orientation, streaming and vocational education for secondary and high school students.
"We want to create conditions and opportunities for parents and students of secondary and high schools in each locality to access information about job opportunities for vocational education human resources, about the directions for students after graduating from high school that are suitable for their abilities and strengths," Mr. Thinh emphasized.
Mr. Thinh also suggested that parents and teachers accompany students throughout the festival to promptly exchange and advise them on useful information in determining and choosing the right direction for themselves when preparing to graduate from high school.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, education experts provided consultation and answered questions for students right in the schoolyard.
At the vocational school booths, students interested in their favorite professions will receive specific advice from teachers and students studying at the school about skill requirements, tuition costs, career opportunities, etc. of each profession.
