The central medical cluster includes hospitals under ministries and branches located in the city, the system of general and specialized hospitals in the city, the 115 Emergency Center, the Center for High-Tech Disease Screening, and the Blood Bank. Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy is primarily responsible for training high-quality human resources at the central cluster. In the current and future stages, the central cluster will continue to play a key role in developing specialized healthcare to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people of the city and the southern region; at the same time, it is responsible for supporting and developing technical expertise for provincial and municipal hospitals in the southern region and sharing resources to develop the remaining two medical clusters of the city.
Tan Kien Medical Cluster (Binh Chanh District) includes Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital, Blood Transfusion - Hematology and Forensic Center in operation, with the following hospitals in the near future: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, General Hospital under Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, 115 Emergency Center, Laboratory Calibration Center, Blood Bank, High-tech Disease Screening Center...
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is primarily responsible for training high-quality human resources in the cluster. Thu Duc Medical Cluster (Thu Duc City) includes the following hospitals: Oncology Facility 2, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, Le Van Thinh, Le Van Viet, Eastern Military Medical Center and Thu Duc City Hospital.
Currently, the planning has been supplemented to develop a number of specialized hospitals such as obstetrics, ophthalmology, surgery, psychiatry, etc. and a Center for High-Tech Disease Screening. This cluster also includes the Faculty of Medicine of Ho Chi Minh City National University - which will be developed into a University of Health and is oriented to have a general hospital operating under the hospital-school model.
