HCMC: Adjusting application time for specialized and integrated 10th grade to create convenience for parents

On the morning of June 24, information from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the application submission period for students admitted to specialized and integrated grade 10 for the 2023-2024 school year will be extended to 5:00 p.m. on June 30. Thus, compared to the previously announced plan, the application submission period has been increased by one day to facilitate parents.

Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that according to the previously announced plan, the application period for specialized and integrated 10th grade will end on June 29.

However, because June 24 and 25 fall on the weekend, for the convenience of parents, the application submission deadline has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on June 30.

Thus, students and parents have 6 days to submit admission applications for specialized and integrated 10th grade classes.

After the above time, students who do not submit their admission application will be removed from the list of admitted students for specialized and integrated 10th grade, and will be considered for admission according to their 3 regular 10th grade wishes.

Admission documents for specialized grade 10 include junior high school transcript (original), valid copy of birth certificate and junior high school graduation certificate (temporary).

After submitting all admission documents, if the school discovers any errors in the regulations or does not meet the requirements, the candidate will be removed from the list of admitted students.

For integrated grade 10, the admission application includes the grade 10 admission report card, junior high school transcript (original), graduation certificate (temporary), copy of birth certificate, and confirmation of preferential policies if any.

Previously, on June 23, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated 10th grade. In general, this year's benchmark scores did not fluctuate much compared to the previous school year.

Of which, the two subjects English and Literature have a slightly lower standard score compared to the 2022-2023 school year, while the Math subject has a slightly increased standard score for specialized grade 10.

In particular, at two specialized high schools, Le Hong Phong Specialized High School and Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, Biology leads the admission score for specialized 10th graders.

This year, the candidate with the highest total score for admission to specialized grade 10 in the public grade 10 entrance exam was 46.75 points.

According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the admission score for specialized grade 10 is the total score of 3 exams including Math, Literature and Foreign Language (coefficient 1) plus the specialized subject exam score (coefficient 2).
