Thu Duc City conducts surprise inspections of school meal providers from November 1

On October 31, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City has just issued an official dispatch to rectify food safety and hygiene in collective kitchens, canteens and school catering services in schools in the area.

The inspection work was carried out from November 1 to November 30. After the above period, the locality continued with inter-sectoral and specialized inspection plans appropriate to each period.

According to the plan, Thu Duc City will establish interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct surprise inspections of compliance with food safety laws in collective kitchens, canteens, and food services in schools in the area.

Subjects of inspection include collective kitchens, canteens, and food services in schools; establishments producing, processing, and trading raw materials, additives, and packaging; establishments that do not ensure food safety as reported in the media; and establishments that have complaints or feedback about food safety.

The inspection team also checked the nutritional quality of the meals to see if they met the nutritional requirements for students; tested the water used in processing; checked the 3-step food inspection implementation book and sample storage.

Check and evaluate food safety conditions at the facility, including facility hygiene conditions; equipment and tool conditions; human conditions. At the same time, check legal documents and other contents as required by the members of the delegation.

During the inspection, the inspection team will take samples of products that pose a risk of food safety and send them to designated testing centers for testing. Other relevant contents serving specialized management will be requested by members of the interdisciplinary inspection team.

Inspection teams must report food safety inspection results at the end of the inspection or promptly report inspection results upon request.

In addition, this is also a measure to promptly detect, prevent and handle violations of food safety, limit and prevent food safety incidents, contributing to improving the care and protection of students' health. At the same time, there is a plan to promptly detect and correct shortcomings and weaknesses in state management of food safety.

As reported by VTC News, regarding Phuong Anh Vinh Long Company (Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City) providing industrial meals for boarding schools in Thu Duc City, which was accused of dirty food, up to now, over 6 schools in the area have stopped providing industrial meals for boarding with this unit. Currently, there are still some schools that continue to order meals from this unit.
