On the morning of September 1, the first day Nam Dinh City operated under the new administrative unit (expanded from the merger of My Loc district according to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee), the People's Council of this city held a meeting to elect new leadership positions of the government.
As a result, the People's Council of Nam Dinh City elected Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan , member of the Standing Committee of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Nam Dinh City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (old) to continue holding the position of Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (new).
Elect Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung , Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Secretary of Nam Dinh City Party Committee to hold the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee.
The City People's Council elected 2 Vice Chairmen of the People's Council, 3 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee; completed the leadership positions of the People's Council's Committees; resolved to establish 11 specialized agencies under the City People's Committee on the basis of rearranging and reorganizing specialized agencies under the People's Committee of Nam Dinh City (old) and the People's Committee of My Loc District (old); elected 13 positions of members of the City People's Committee; elected 40 People's Jurors; appointed 7 City People's Council delegations with 53 delegates.
Previously, the Executive Committee of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee decided to establish the Nam Dinh City Party Committee (new), term 2020 - 2025, on the basis of merging the Nam Dinh City Party Committee and the former My Loc District Party Committee.
Accordingly, the new Nam Dinh City Party Committee will come into operation from September 1, 2024. Its headquarters will be at the current Nam Dinh City Party Committee headquarters. The Executive Committee consists of 62 members and the Standing Committee consists of 19 members.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan , member of the Standing Committee of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (old) was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Nam Dinh City Party Committee (new).
The two Deputy Secretaries are Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung , Provincial Party Committee member, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province; Mr. Tran Quoc Lap , Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of My Loc district (old).
Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (new) Nguyen Anh Tuan, 51 years old, from Dai An commune, Vu Ban district (Nam Dinh); has a Bachelor's degree in Culture, Advanced degree in political theory.
Before being transferred to Nam Dinh City, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan served as Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of Vu Ban District Party Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee. He is a delegate of the 12th National Assembly, belonging to the National Assembly Delegation of Nam Dinh Province.
Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh City (new) Nguyen Tien Dung, 48 years old, from Tan Thanh commune, Vu Ban district (Nam Dinh); has a PhD in Educational Management, graduated with a Master's degree in Political Theory.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung grew up in the education sector of Nam Dinh province. Before being transferred to Nam Dinh city (a few days ago), Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung worked as a teacher at Nguyen Trai High School (Truc Ninh district, same province); a department-level officer, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training; and Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After the arrangement and expansion, Nam Dinh City has 21 commune-level administrative units (14 wards, 7 communes); borders Nam Truc and Vu Ban districts (belonging to Nam Dinh province) and borders Ha Nam and Thai Binh provinces; covers an area of 120.90 km2, with a population of more than 364 thousand people.
Before the arrangement and expansion, Nam Dinh City was a type I urban area under the province; after the arrangement and expansion, according to the criteria, this city was classified by the competent authority as a type II urban area under the province.
