Since 2017, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City have signed a joint agreement on developing medical tourism products in the city. Travel agencies have introduced more than 30 medical tourism programs combining health check-ups, cosmetic dental treatments with short-term sightseeing programs in Ho Chi Minh City or resorts in neighboring provinces and cities.

Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said: “Medical facilities that can serve tourism must meet professional standards, have human resources, facilities, service quality, good financial services... The announcement event today is the basis for the city's tourism and health sectors to strengthen communication work, contributing to the development program of medical tourism products and creating a close relationship between the tourism and health sectors to develop the city's tourism potential.
