Ho Chi Minh City changes additional recruitment time for specialized and integrated 10th grade classes

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced that in the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will adjust the time to organize the additional entrance exam for specialized and integrated grade 10. The additional entrance exam for grade 10 is expected to take place at the end of May 2025, when students finish grade 10, instead of in January, when the first semester ends as every year.

The Department of Education and Training said that the adjustment of the time for the additional entrance exam for specialized 10th graders this school year is to comply with the 2018 General Education Program, Circular 05/2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training promulgating the regulations on the organization and operation of specialized high schools, and Official Dispatch No. 68/BGDĐT-GDTrH of the Ministry of Education and Training on instructions for converting elective subjects and clusters of study topics at high school level. It stipulates that students who wish to convert elective subjects and clusters of study topics must do so at the end of the school year to ensure the implementation of the school's education plan, regulations on testing, assessment and time for students to supplement knowledge and skills.

In particular, in order to comply with Circular 05/2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training promulgating the regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools, from the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will stop enrolling in specialized classes in regular high schools. Therefore, the additional entrance exam for specialized 10th grade this school year will be the last additional entrance exam for specialized 10th grade at regular high schools with specialized classes, including: Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, Gia Dinh, and Nguyen Huu Huan high schools.

It is known that for many years now, in January, the Department of Education and Training has always organized the entrance exam for specialized and integrated 10th graders with more than 300 specialized 10th graders and about 100 integrated 10th graders because the schools have not yet recruited enough students and students who passed the 10th grade entrance exam but then went to study abroad or transferred to international schools...
