Mr. Tran Thanh Vuong, Head of the Department of Building Family Cultural Lifestyle, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, answered the press on the afternoon of September 19.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed this regulation to protect consumers and ensure accuracy and transparency in advertising content.

Mr. Vuong said that Ho Chi Minh City also agreed with the above regulation, but emphasized that the Department only manages the activities of artists who are civil servants and public employees within its authority, while monitoring online advertising is the responsibility of the Department of Information and Communications.

Currently, outdoor advertising in Ho Chi Minh City is strictly managed by the Department of Culture and Sports. Advertising businesses must comply with content regulations, ensure that their documents are up to standard and do not violate advertising regulations for special products.

Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications also shared about handling false advertisements by celebrities (KOLs), including preventing social media channels from violating. The Department has built a database and classified advertising content to more closely control advertising activities through KOLs, media companies and multi-channel management networks (MCNs).

In particular, the Ministry of Information and Communications is coordinating with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build a "white list" and "black list" of artists involved in advertising activities.

Actress Cat Tuong apologized to the audience at a press conference for recent false advertising.

The whitelist includes artists who have not violated false advertising, while the blacklist will record repeat violations. This is considered a step forward in cleaning up the online environment.

With more than 70 million social media users in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City alone has 22 million accounts, tightening advertising management is extremely necessary to protect consumers from false advertising information.
