Ho Chi Minh City first time promotion branded goods up to 90%

On the morning of September 8, in Ho Chi Minh City, more than 120 brands of cosmetics, handbags, watches... from Japan, the US, and Italy simultaneously offered discounts of up to 90%.

Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this program is part of the city's consumer stimulus chain in the context of economic difficulties and slow purchasing power.

The Flash Sale Holiday, according to him, not only helps consumers access branded goods at good prices, but also gives Ho Chi Minh City the opportunity to attract more tourists. The event had about 30,000 attendees.

According to the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade, the branded products here, in addition to Vietnamese goods, are mostly imported from Japan, the US, Italy, Russia, etc. Most of them are in the mid-range segment, suitable for many customers' budgets. For high-end products, the quantity is limited due to the exclusive distribution principles of each brand.

Currently, the prices of branded products here range from 200,000 VND to 100 million VND. Products are discounted 30-50%, with many items even discounted up to 80-90%.

Ms. Oanh, in Phu Nhuan district, said she often buys Furla handbags from Italy but rarely gets such a "shocking" promotion like this one. Therefore, in this event, she chose a handbag with a promotional price of up to 80%, only about 2.5 million VND.

Similarly, Mr. Hoang Quan in Tan Binh district also just spent money to own a Japanese Casio watch for only about 9 million VND instead of 12 million VND as listed at the store.

Staff at the GEOX shoe store - a high-end Italian shoe brand - said that at this event, the company had many products on sale with discounts of up to 80%. Therefore, in just over an hour, 40 customers bought them.

Similarly, at the Japanese watch counters - Casio distributors said the products on display here cost 1.8-40 million VND (prices including promotions). Of the 100 customers who viewed the products, about 30% bought them right at the display area. "The purchasing power is so strong that we expect to sell about 50-80% of the products on display in 2 days here," said the Casio distributor.

The Flash Sale Holiday is an event organized by the Department of Industry and Trade for the first time and is expected to become an annual event in Ho Chi Minh City to stimulate demand for branded goods and leave an impression on tourists. The event will take place on September 8-10. This is an event in the series of "Concentrated Promotional Month Program - Shopping Season" this year.

Recently, the continuous organization of concentrated promotions has helped increase purchasing power in Ho Chi Minh City. In August, the city's retail sales increased by 14.8% over the same period in 2022. In the first 8 months, the city's retail sales of goods reached nearly 453,000 billion VND, an increase of 9.6% over the same period last year.
