The impact of storm No. 3 (Yagi) in early September 2024 caused severe damage to Quang Ninh province in general and Cam Pha city in particular. Immediately after the storm, all levels, sectors, localities and people of the city joined hands to urgently overcome the consequences of the storm. In a short time, people's lives stabilized and production and business activities returned to normal.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the production value of all economic sectors of the city increased compared to the same period last year (CK). In which, the production value of the industrial and construction sectors, although decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the growth scenario, is estimated to increase by 5.4% over the same period; the industrial and service sectors decreased by 0.2 percentage points compared to the scenario, but is estimated to increase by 18% over the same period; the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors are estimated to increase by 9.4% over the same period, an increase of 0.2% over the city's growth scenario.
The tourism sector has a positive recovery. In the first 9 months of 2024, the city welcomed 1.1 million visitors, an increase of 200,000 compared to the scenario; tourism revenue reached 665 billion VND, an increase of 90 billion VND compared to the scenario. The first prominent cultural and tourism event held in Cam Pha - the final round of the Miss Tourism Vietnam 2024 Contest attracted over 10,000 visitors, contributing to Promote Vietnamese tourism, the unique values of Quang Ninh and Cam Pha City to domestic and international tourists through scenic spots, historical and cultural relics, tourist destinations, and typical types of tourism...
The city continues to promote the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs, reforming administrative procedures, improving the investment and business environment, supporting and removing difficulties for enterprises. The city regularly organizes dialogue conferences with enterprises in the area, proposes to provincial departments and branches to resolve difficulties, create consensus among the business community and people; rectify state management of planning, land, and environmental resources; accelerate site clearance for key projects, meeting the requirements of tasks and plans.
Social security
The city fully and promptly implemented policies and regimes, taking good care of the lives of policy beneficiaries. In the first 9 months of 2024, the city paid regular allowances to 12,471 policy beneficiaries and people with revolutionary contributions (VND 29.6 billion); paid monthly post-payment allowances to 1,379 beneficiaries (VND 2.26 billion); ensured that 100% of children in special circumstances were cared for according to State regulations; directed communes and wards to carry out activities to care for people's lives and material and spiritual needs, promptly resolved arising difficulties, especially during the traditional Tet holiday of the nation, ensuring that everyone had Tet, "no one was left behind".
Implementing the special emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind", in the first 9 months of 2024, the city mobilized 2.3 billion VND, completing the goal of supporting 68 households to escape near-poverty in 2024.
In early October 2024, Quang Hanh Ward organized a fund-raising ceremony to support 2 households to escape near-poverty. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Quang Hanh Ward, To Thanh Nhi, said: The Ward has mobilized the active and responsible participation of the entire political system, leaders of the neighborhoods, and the consensus and response of the people and officers of the ward. After the launching period, the ward has mobilized nearly 143 million VND to effectively implement the program to eliminate near-poverty households in 2024.
The city pays attention to solving social issues well and harmoniously, especially focusing on developing culture and people with rich Quang Ninh identity. The fields of education and training, health care, labor and employment are focused; national defense and security are maintained, social order is ensured. The city continues to focus on directing the effective implementation of the 2024 working theme, completing the highest socio-economic development goals of the locality.
