The silhouette of a mysterious SUV appeared on the introduction screen during the launch of the new generation Alphard and Vellfire on June 21.
At the event, Simon Humphries, Toyota's brand director, said a few words about the Century SUV, saying, "Later this year, I hope to have the opportunity to share about Toyota's new series. It could be an impressive step in our mission to change the future of cars."
The new SUV model is positioned by the Japanese company above the Toyota Land Cruiser, combining technology and luxury at a higher level.
The photo shows the typical design of an SUV, with body lines similar to the Century sedan. The dimensions of the SUV are said to be 5,200 mm long, 1,950 mm wide, 1,750 mm high and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
But although positioned on the Land Cruiser, the high-chassis Century version only has 2 rows of seats to optimize comfort for rear passengers. It is not yet clear whether the Century SUV's platform will be applied from the Lexus LS or Toyota Grand Highlander.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Toyota was developing a new SUV , which was expected to be released later this year. The Toyota Century is considered the Rolls-Royce of Japan, with a decades-old history that combines tradition and modernity, with a largely unchanged design, and is not for everyone. The SUV is expected to cost between $76,000 and $114,000, which is similar to a new Lexus LX 600.
