According to the latest report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), Hyundai Thanh Cong Joint Venture (TC Motor) and VinFast, in May 2023, sales of the entire Vietnamese automobile market continued to decline for the second consecutive month.

Specifically, total sales reached only 26,414 vehicles, down 14% compared to the previous month and down 49% compared to the same period last year. Of which, the passenger car segment reached 20,171 vehicles, down 12% compared to the previous month. Regarding sedan sales, the number of vehicles sold reached 4,708 vehicles, still ranking above the MPV segment and below the SUV segment.

1. Honda City: In May, Honda City sold 1,025 cars, down slightly by 9% compared to the previous month (1,137 cars) and continued to maintain its leading position in the ranking of low-cost sedan models. Honda City's total sales since the beginning of the year in Vietnam reached 4,623 cars delivered to customers.

Honda City is still the sportiest car in the segment, so it is warmly welcomed by users. Currently, Honda City has a selling price ranging from 529-599 million VND with 3 versions.

2. Hyundai Accent: In May 2023, Hyundai Accent had sales of 920 vehicles, ranking second after Honda City. Cumulative sales since the beginning of the year, Hyundai Accent achieved a total sales of 5,913 vehicles delivered to customers. With the above cumulative sales, Hyundai Accent is still leading the B-class sedan segment.

Hyundai Accent is being sold on the market in 4 versions with listed prices ranging from 426 - 542 million VND.

3. Toyota Vios: Although Toyota Vios has launched an upgraded version, it seems that its sales are still behind its two competitors Honda City and Hyundai Accent in the B-class Sedan segment. In May 2023, Toyota Vios had sales of 586 cars delivered to Vietnamese customers and a total of 3,476 cars leaving dealerships since the beginning of the year.

Currently, the new version of Toyota Vios has been sold with some exterior upgrades and safety equipment. The car still has 3 versions with slightly reduced prices for the E CVT version (528 million VND) and E MT (479 million VND) while the G CVT remains the same (592 million VND).

4. Mazda3: In May, Mazda3 sales increased slightly, reaching 405 cars, 2 more than the previous month. Mazda3's cumulative sales since the beginning of the year reached 2,014 cars.

Mazda3 was launched in late 2019, but by the end of 2022, the company had discontinued the 2.0L engine variant. The car still maintains 3 versions: Deluxe, Luxury and Premium, with prices ranging from 699 - 789 million VND.

5. Mazda2: Sales in May 2023, Mazda2 reached 386 vehicles, an increase of 1 vehicle compared to April. Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2023, the number is 1,809 vehicles.

Mazda2 is imported completely from Thailand. The car has 3 versions: AT, Luxury and Premium with 2 variants: sedan and hatchback, price ranges from 479-619 million VND.
