In the B-class sedan segment, Honda City used to have the highest suggested retail price. Therefore, although it is highly appreciated for its driving experience and equipment content, this model has not been able to become the choice of the majority.
In September, Honda Vietnam adjusted the selling price for City, reducing by 40-60 million VND depending on the version. The new selling price of the Japanese car starts at 499 million VND and goes up to 569 million VND, instead of around 559-609 million VND as before.
After adjustment, the starting price of Honda City is still higher than its competitors, but the RS version is no longer the most expensive in the segment, equal to the "full" version of Hyundai Accent (569 million VND) (Photo: Nguyen Lam).
In addition to the price reduction, the company no longer applies the promotion of 50% registration fee support for City in September. However, because it is assembled domestically, this model is still eligible for a 50% reduction in registration fee, according to the Government's support policy.
With the new selling price and the warming market, Honda City's consumption exploded with 1,590 cars delivered, an increase of nearly 3.8 times compared to August.
This result helped Honda City surpass Hyundai Accent in September, taking the No. 2 position in the B-class sedan segment. The Korean car model sold 1,290 units, an increase of 37%.
Considering cumulative sales in the first 9 months of the year, Hyundai Accent is still in the No. 2 position in the B-class sedan segment, with a total of 8,200 vehicles delivered (Photo: TC Motor).
The best-selling car in this group in September continued to be the Toyota Vios. The Japanese car model exploded when the manufacturer gave away 50% of the registration fee, helping users enjoy a "double" incentive of up to 100% of the registration fee, because it was assembled domestically.
Specifically, Vios sold 1,842 cars in September, an increase of 82% compared to August.

The remaining positions in the B-class sedan segment belong to Mazda2, Mitsubishi Attrage and Kia Soluto, respectively. Of which, Mazda2 is the only product in this group that recorded a decrease in consumption last month. This model is imported completely and does not have attractive incentives.
This segment also includes Nissan Almera but the company has not announced sales figures (Photo: Nguyen Lam).
