Top 3 nominees for V-League 2023 Best Player, the brightest face revealed

Despite being the domestic striker with the most goals, Hanoi FC striker Nguyen Van Quyet was not in the top 3 nominees for the 2023 V-League Best Player.

According to the announcement of the organizing committee, midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc (Viettel), Nguyen Hai Huy ( Hai Phong ) and goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh (Nam Dinh) are the 3 candidates competing for the title of Best Player of V-League 2023.

The fact that defending champion Cong An Ha Noi and runner-up Ha Noi FC have no representatives on the list surprised many people. Among them, the absence of striker Nguyen Van Quyet was mentioned the most.

Van Quyet is the domestic player who scored the most goals in V-League 2023 with 9 goals, only behind 3 foreign players including Rafaelson (Binh Dinh, 16 goals), Bruno Cunha (Thanh Hoa, 11 goals) and Jhon Cley (CAHN, 11 goals).

After the 1-3 defeat to Binh Dinh in round 7 on April 17, the Hanoi FC striker had to sit out 8 matches due to suspension for "physically insulting" the referee.

With Van Quyet's absence, Hoang Duc is considered the strongest candidate for the title of Best Player of V-League 2023.

The midfielder born in 1998 played all 20 matches in V-League 2023, scored 5 goals and had 5 assists for his teammates. Hoang Duc was an important factor in helping Viettel finish 3rd overall.

Hai Huy also played all 20 matches for Hai Phong and scored 4 goals. However, the performance of the Hai Phong team was not as good as last season (ranked 7th, last season ranked 2nd), affecting the individual title race of this midfielder.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh contributed greatly to helping Nam Dinh finish the season in 5th place. The goalkeeper from Nghe An kept a clean sheet in 8 out of 18 appearances for the team from Thanh Nam in V-League 2023.

The season's individual awards will be announced at the V-League Awards 2023 ceremony on the evening of August 31 in Hanoi.
