According to AFP news agency, in the ruling announced by Chief Justice Caryslia Rodriguez, the TSJ emphasized that this agency "certifies indisputably the electoral documents and confirms the results of the July 28 presidential election announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE)", and named Mr. Maduro as the winner.

On August 2, the CNE announced the results of the vote count of 96.87%, according to which, incumbent President Maduro won with 51.95% of the votes. However, opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia declared that he did not recognize the above results.

TSJ later affirmed that the opposition parties supporting presidential candidate González Urrutia had not provided any evidence or records related to the allegations of fraud in the July 28 election.

According to the TSJ, despite receiving a summons, Mr. González Urrutia did not appear in court. The TSJ began hearings on August 7 for all 10 candidates who ran in the recent presidential election to expedite the process of the court certifying the official results of the election.
