On October 24, in Phu Tho province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) held a ceremony to summarize and award the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest.
Comrade Nguyen Huy Ngoc - Member of Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony.
Attending the program were comrades: Nguyen Huy Ngoc - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Trinh Thi Thuy - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of departments, offices and institutes under a number of central ministries and branches, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 63 provinces and cities across the country; leaders of departments, branches, sectors and unions of Phu Tho province; universities, academies, high schools and excellent collectives and individuals who won the National Finals of the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2024.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huy Ngoc gave an overview of the province's socio-economic development situation; sincerely thanked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for choosing Phu Tho province as the place to organize the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2024. He affirmed: The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Contest is a meaningful activity to recognize and honor outstanding collectives and individuals across the country who have won prizes in the contest; at the same time, it is an opportunity for delegates, students across the country to learn and love more about the history, culture and people of the land of the nation's origin.
Student Nguyen Hai Au - grade 11 History major, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, excellently became 1 of 4 outstanding Reading Culture Ambassadors in 2024.

The 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest was launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in April 2024, including 2 rounds: Preliminary round at the Ministry of National Defense, provinces, cities, Vietnam Association of the Blind, Universities and Academies (from April to June 30, 2024); Final round organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (from July 1 to the end of October 2024).

After 4 months of launching and implementing, the Preliminary Round of the Contest attracted 1,686,865 students from nearly 9,200 educational institutions to participate. In the Final Round of the Contest, the Organizing Committee received 517 high-winning entries from the Preliminary Round. The Organizing Committee assessed the quality of this year's contest as having many breakthroughs, many entries were carefully invested, of high quality in both content and presentation, had great educational effects and had a good effect on viewers; many good, unique, and novel ideas were proposed to encourage students and everyone to read; many touching stories and good books were shared. Some contest videos used additional sign language and English subtitles to increase the ability to spread the sharing and messages encouraging everyone to read.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 15 collective prizes to units that organized the Preliminary Round of the Contest well, 4 Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassadors, 8 First Prizes, 16 Second Prizes, 32 Third Prizes, 64 Encouragement Prizes and Special Prizes for the best entries. Phu Tho Province was honored to have 2 collective prizes including: The Provincial Library won the prize for "Unit that organized the Preliminary Round of the Contest well" and Dinh Tien Hoang Primary School won the prize for "School with the most participants"; Nguyen Hai Au - 11th grade History major, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted won the title of Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassador; Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao - 10A5 grade, Thanh Thuy High School, Thanh Thuy district won the Third Prize.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy emphasized that 2024 is the year with the largest number of entries ever. She commended students across the country for actively participating in the Contest; and congratulated outstanding groups and individuals for their efforts, contributions and excellent achievements in the Contest. In order to create a strong and widespread influence for the Contest in the coming time, she suggested that the Department of Libraries, as the standing agency, continue to organize the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest well; innovate and improve the quality of the contest. Agencies, units and localities continue to pay more attention to investing in the organization of the Preliminary Round; strengthen close coordination between the Culture sector and the Education sector to organize the Contest in accordance with the practical conditions in each locality; promote propaganda to all classes of people, encourage and mobilize a large number of units to support the contest.
Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassadors and award-winning individuals need to continue to enhance their responsibility in promoting the ability to inspire and the passion for reading in the community to spread and develop a reading culture in the community. Thereby contributing to building a learning society, spreading knowledge, improving people's intelligence, nurturing personality and soul, forming a healthy lifestyle, arousing the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country among all classes of people, especially the young generation.
