This afternoon, January 6, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province held a ceremony to summarize and award the provincial Science and Technology Competition for high school students and display STEM educational products for the 2024-2025 school year.

The 2024-2025 school year is the first year that the Department of Education and Training organizes a science and technology competition for high school students combined with an exhibition of STEM educational products at primary and secondary schools. This is a scientific intellectual playground to arouse passion for scientific research, apply learned knowledge to solve problems in real life, create opportunities for students to introduce the results of scientific and technical research; at the same time, encourage the improvement of STEM teaching quality and promote and introduce STEM educational products of primary and secondary schools in the whole province.
After 3 days of active and fair work, the organizing committee selected and decided to award certificates of merit and recognition from the Department of Education and Training to many individuals and groups participating in the contest. In particular, for projects in the field of science and technology, the organizing committee awarded 1 first prize to the project of Computer Support Device for Pakison patients based on eye movement and brain wave tracking of Tran Ngoc Long and Tran Le Phuc, students of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted; awarded 14 second prizes; 19 third prizes and 25 fourth prizes.
In addition, 3 outstanding projects in the fields of embedded systems, robots and intelligent machines have been selected to participate in the National High School Science and Technology Competition for the 2024-2025 school year, which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City in March 2025.
For STEM educational products, the organizing committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 units of the Department of Education and Training; awarded certificates to 36 STEM lessons and STEM products of teachers and students; and awarded 16 certificates of merit to groups and individuals with high achievements in the competition.
According to the organizers' assessment, the projects participating in the science and technology competition this year are diverse and rich in topics and fields, in which many projects have appropriate research content and methods; conducting research processes, recording logs and presenting scientific reports meet the innovation requirements of a scientific work.
In particular, many projects have high humanistic significance, researched from concerns and explorations of practical life, suitable for the psychology of students. For STEM educational products, the Department of Education and Training has invested in directing the implementation of STEM educational activities at primary and secondary levels; carefully selecting and designing STEM product displays in a scientific and creative way to participate in the competition.
