The Youth Volunteer Team of the Nam Rom Irrigation Project celebrates 60 years of tradition

The Chairman of the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work.

The delegates reviewed the heroic tradition of the Youth Volunteers in building the Nam Rom Great Irrigation Project in the past. In 1963, following the Party's call, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, more than 2,000 young people from the provinces and cities of Hanoi , Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh... enthusiastically followed Uncle Ho's soldiers to Dien Bien. After more than 6 years of hardship, the Nam Rom Youth Volunteers completed massive irrigation projects including 3 main canals, left canal, right canal over 35km long, along with a spillway across the Nam Rom stream with a volume of up to 7,000m3 ^of concrete and 9 bridges, becoming a strategic project of national scale, the largest in the Northwest region. Up to now, the Nam Rom Great Irrigation Project still ensures sustainability, bringing water to irrigate Muong Thanh fields. Not only growing 2 crops, many places also provide irrigation water for growing 3 crops of rice and other crops, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the locality...

Individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of the Association of Former Youth Volunteers received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee.

At the ceremony, the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers launched a special emulation movement to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 115th anniversary of the province's founding (June 28, 1909 - June 28, 2024), and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (October 10, 1949 - October 10, 2024) with the theme "Self-reliance, democracy, discipline, solidarity, creativity, emulation to build Dien Bien province to develop rapidly and sustainably".

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 3 individuals; the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 individuals who had outstanding achievements in building the Association on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Tradition Day of the General Youth Volunteer Team of the Nam Rom Irrigation Project.
