This morning, December 20, in Hanoi, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.

General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, will attend and deliver a speech at the ceremony.
Also attending were President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien.
There were also leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, Army, revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, military generals of all periods...
Before the ceremony, the delegation of leaders and former leaders of the Party, State and Army visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and commemorated the heroic martyrs.
According to information from the organizing committee, the highlight of the celebration is an epic art program lasting more than 30 minutes, including special music and dance performances, summarizing the entire history of the birth, fighting, and victory of the Army as well as affirming the great role of the Vietnam People's Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
At the ceremony, the decision to commend and award the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Vietnam People's Army will also be announced on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.

According to information from the Ministry of National Defense, more than 1,830 commemorative works, worth about 260 billion VND, were completed on this occasion. In particular, agencies, units, and localities coordinated to support the cost of renovating and embellishing places of worship (at home) for 32/34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, with a total amount of 2.56 billion VND.
Previously, on December 19, the Ministry of National Defense held the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, one of the highlight events of this occasion.
