General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping

On January 15, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025) and in the excited atmosphere as the two peoples prepare to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025.

The two leaders highly appreciated the significance of the phone call, which was an important and very good start of the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year, demonstrating the high regard and top priority of each side for the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, and orienting effective cooperation activities between the two Parties and the two countries in 2025 and the following years.

On the occasion of the upcoming New Year of At Ty 2025, the two General Secretaries sent New Year greetings to the two Parties, two countries and peoples, wishing that the cause of building socialism in each country will achieve even greater new achievements, that the people of the two countries will be healthy and prosperous, and that the relationship between the two Parties and two countries will continue to develop healthily and stably, contributing positively to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

In a sincere, open and friendly atmosphere, the two General Secretaries highly appreciated the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China over the past 75 years, which has maintained a positive development trend overall, achieved many important achievements, and brought practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

In 2024, high-level exchanges will take place with high frequency, the atmosphere of friendship and effective cooperation will spread widely to all levels, sectors and people of the two countries.

Many high-level agreements and common perceptions, including the Vietnam-China Joint Statement of August 2024, are being actively implemented.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam sent his condolences to the families of the victims and all the people in the area affected by the recent serious earthquake in Tibet, believing that under the timely leadership and direction of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people will soon overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated China on the important achievements it has made in recent times under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping as its core; he believed that China would continue to develop strongly and make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping sincerely thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their timely sympathy with the recent earthquake in Tibet.

Comrade Xi Jinping sent warm congratulations to the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); highly appreciated the comprehensive results that Vietnam has achieved in recent times; believed that the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam will lead the Vietnamese people to unite to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, successfully achieve the two "100-year goals" of the founding of the Party and the founding of the country, firmly step into the new era of "rising forward" of the nation on the path to socialism.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always appreciate the valuable support and assistance that the Party, State and people of China have given to Vietnam during historical periods; affirmed that Vietnam always considers developing relations with China a top priority in its overall foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirmed that the Chinese Party and State prioritize developing relations with Vietnam in its neighborly foreign policy.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President Xi Jinping jointly announced the launch of the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025; agreed to coordinate well in organizing activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025; and step up propaganda and education among all classes of people, especially the young generation of the two countries, about the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.

The two General Secretaries agreed to continue to strengthen strategic exchanges between the two Parties and countries, especially high-level exchanges that have strategic orientation significance for the overall bilateral relationship; improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms on the Party, Government, National Assembly/National People's Congress, Fatherland Front/CPPCC channels; promote defense-security cooperation commensurate with its role as one of the important pillars of the bilateral relationship; create new breakthroughs in economic cooperation, prioritize accelerating the connection of three standard-gauge railway lines between the two countries, expand trade and investment cooperation and in emerging fields.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping welcomed Vietnam's efforts to promote quality to expand the consumption of high-quality Vietnamese agricultural products in the Chinese market.

The two leaders also shared information about the situation of each Party and each country; agreed to increase the exchange of experiences and theories in building socialism; and coordinate on international and regional issues, contributing to promoting peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that both sides direct sectors and levels to actively seek effective methods and measures to better control and resolve disagreements, and enhance cooperation in accordance with the level of bilateral relations on the basis of the United Nations Charter and international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited Comrade Xi Jinping and his wife to visit Vietnam again in 2025. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping thanked and happily accepted the invitation.
