On October 14, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Farmers' Union coordinated with ministries and branches to organize a ceremony to honor and award the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer, praising 63 typical cooperatives nationwide in 2024.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the advanced models honored today are the most outstanding representatives among millions of farmers nationwide, real people, real deeds, achieving outstanding achievements in production, business, in the movement to build new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, the movement of the whole people to protect national security; having initiatives and inventions that have been applied and brought high efficiency in practice.

Emphasizing that our country is facing many opportunities and advantages but also has to face many difficulties and challenges that must be overcome, the National Assembly Chairman requested that Farmers' Associations at all levels must have new thinking, new ways of doing things, new determination, encourage, support, and create conditions for more good production and business households, successful agricultural cooperatives, to act as the core to participate in socio-economic development in rural areas across the country, especially in difficult mountainous areas and areas with large ethnic minorities.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also noted that Farmers' Associations at all levels need to focus on guiding members and farmers to apply digital technology, build models of ecological agricultural production, green agriculture; organic, circular, smart agriculture; agriculture combined with industry, agriculture combined with services, creating many safe, high-quality agricultural products to be competitive in domestic and world markets; build, develop and preserve product brands and consumer markets.

The National Assembly Chairman requested that Farmers' Associations at all levels should regularly pay attention to farmers' aspirations, grasp the reality to provide timely support, especially to localities that have suffered heavy damage caused by recent natural disasters; create motivation to exploit and promote the potential and strengths of each locality and the internal strength of each family, while creating a favorable environment for intellectuals, scientists, and businessmen to stand side by side with the peasant class in the cause of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

For the outstanding individuals and collectives honored today, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that individuals and collectives will continue to take the lead in cooperation and production and business linkage; continue to contribute their strength and intelligence, impart experiences, support and help many others so that more farmers can become rich legitimately, more agricultural cooperatives can succeed and develop, to work with the community to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction.

At the ceremony to honor and award the title of outstanding Vietnamese farmers and commend 63 outstanding cooperatives nationwide in 2024, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association Luong Quoc Doan said that outstanding Vietnamese farmers and outstanding cooperatives have made important contributions to the results of restructuring the agricultural sector towards quality and efficiency, forming a multi-value production chain, contributing to promoting economic growth, building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction.

Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan affirmed that the organization of honoring outstanding Vietnamese farmers and praising typical cooperatives is to honor the will of self-reliance, self-reliance, talent and creativity of farmers who have devoted themselves to the cause of agricultural development, building new rural areas, and building a strong Vietnamese peasant class. The honoring ceremony has, is and will strongly contribute to the implementation of Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Innovation and improvement of the quality of activities of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to meet the requirements of revolutionary tasks in the new period"; implementing the key targets of the Resolution of the 8th National Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2023-2028 term.

Of the total 144 nominations for outstanding Vietnamese farmers, over 30 farmers have profits of VND 5 billion/year or more, the remaining candidates have profits from VND 500 million to VND 4.5 billion/year. From the nominations, 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2024 were honored as farmers who are not only excellent in agricultural production but also have a spirit of innovation, creativity, dare to think, dare to do and inspire positivity in the cause of building new rural areas and developing the country's agricultural economy.

Some impressive figures of outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2024 include: The highest revenue belongs to farmer Nguyen Thi Bien (Thanh Hoa) with a revenue of 150 billion VND and farmer Nguyen Duc Menh (Hai Duong) with 95 billion VND; The largest production linkage area is farmer Nguyen Thanh Tuan (Kien Giang) with 500 hectares; The highest profit is farmer Nguyen Minh Nhu (Ben Tre) with 20.5 billion VND thanks to the shrimp farming model.

In addition, the restructuring of the agricultural sector, the promotion of the application of science and technology, land accumulation, along with the efforts and creativity of each farmer in the emulation movement for good farmers in production and business, have laid the foundation for the formation of a new generation of farmers, a generation of farmers who produce hundreds of hectares of rice, raise dozens of hectares of shrimp, and earn tens of billions in revenue. Typically, Mr. Huynh Mung Em in Bac Lieu raises clams and earns a profit of more than 10 billion VND/year; Mr. Luu Hoang Son in Gia Lai processes cashew nuts and earns a profit of 16.6 billion VND; farmer Le Manh Cuong in Phu Tho raises pigs and plants forests and was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal...

2024 is also the second year that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has honored 63 outstanding cooperatives nationwide that were established through propaganda, mobilization, and guidance from the Vietnam Farmers' Union. Some cooperatives with large revenues were honored, such as: Long Thanh Phat Agricultural Cooperative (Dong Nai) with a revenue of more than 212 billion VND/year; Agricultural Cooperative 118 (Cao Bang) with a revenue from selling silkworm cocoons of 100.7 billion VND; Chau Pha Agricultural Service Production Cooperative (Ba Ria Vung Tau) with a revenue of 52 billion VND; OCOP Biological Fruit Cooperative (Hau Giang) with a revenue of 65 billion VND; Bau Don Fruit Tree Cooperative (Tay Ninh) with a revenue of 132 billion VND...

The ceremony to honor and award the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers and commend outstanding cooperatives nationwide in 2024 is the most important event of the series of Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Programs in 2024. The Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program has created a strong spread of "New Farmer Models; New-style Cooperatives" with 5 criteria: New awareness; new knowledge; new consciousness; new determination and high income, contributing to realizing the Party's Resolution, realizing the aspiration of building a prosperous and happy country./.
