On the evening of April 11, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance held a ceremony to honor outstanding cooperatives and award the Cooperative Star 2024 award. Comrade Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee on Collective Economy attended and delivered a speech.

In her opening speech, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Cao Xuan Thu Van stated: Over the past years, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system has performed well the functions and tasks assigned by the Party and the State, actively organized many patriotic emulation movements, typically the movement "Cooperatives compete in production and business associated with the value chain of key national, regional and local products, attracting members, helping each other produce and consume products to get rich and sustainably reduce poverty". As a result, thousands of typical cooperatives have emerged, operating effectively economically, bringing benefits to members and the community, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
According to the President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, the organization of the ceremony to honor Typical Cooperatives and award the Cooperative Star Award is to honor the humane business model, for the progress of society, to honor the will of self-reliance, self-reliance, hard work, creativity, and efforts to overcome difficulties of the cooperative community that constantly strives for the development of the collective economy, and at the same time, to strongly spread the model of Typical Cooperatives with new determination to contribute to the realization of the Party's Resolution, the State's policies, and to arouse the aspiration for cooperatives to contribute to building a prosperous and happy country.
At the ceremony, 100 cooperatives out of 128 typical cooperatives nominated from over 31,000 cooperatives nationwide were honored and received the Vietnam Cooperative Star Award 2024. "I believe that from this pride and honor, the 100 cooperatives will continue to shine, be the core, the backbone, and the pioneer in effectively implementing collective economic and cooperative development movements nationwide," emphasized Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai commended the efforts and congratulated the achievements of the collective economic sector and cooperatives in recent times. The Deputy Prime Minister also highly appreciated the initiative of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance in organizing a series of events "Action Month for Cooperatives 2024" and organizing a Ceremony to honor outstanding cooperatives.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated: During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to cooperatives. Right after the successful August Revolution, on April 11, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh wrote a letter calling on Vietnamese landlords and farmers to participate in agricultural cooperatives. Responding to his call, in 1948, in the Viet Bac War Zone, the first cooperative was established, marking the birth and development of the collective economic sector and cooperatives in Vietnam.
Up to now, after a long period of development, the collective economic sector of our country has made positive progress. Awareness of collective economic development, focusing on cooperatives in the political system and among the people, has been raised. Policies and laws on collective economy have been focused on building and perfecting to suit each stage of development.
Cooperatives have basically completed the transition to a new model according to the provisions of law. The number of newly established cooperatives and cooperative unions has increased significantly, with more diverse development in terms of industry, scale and level, better support for members, job creation and increased regular income for workers. The linkages between cooperatives with each other, with enterprises and other economic organizations have initially developed...
The world economic context and international situation continue to evolve in a complex and unpredictable manner, with many new difficulties and challenges. Domestically, in addition to advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges.
To successfully implement the goals of developing the collective economy and cooperatives, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels to thoroughly grasp and closely follow the Party's guidelines, develop and improve the efficiency of collective economic activities, considering this an important and regular task of the entire political system.
Regarding the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system, the Deputy Prime Minister also requested that it is necessary to organize and carry out well information and propaganda activities about the good nature, position, role and importance of the collective economy and cooperatives in the socio-economic development of the country, attract many cooperatives and cooperative groups to become members of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system, and develop the startup movement from cooperatives.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also requested collective economic organizations and cooperatives to promote the spirit of proactive adaptation to fluctuations, self-reliance; strongly change in thinking, awareness and action, develop collective economic organizations associated with active innovation, application of modern science and technology, green transformation; strengthen linkages along the value chain; develop both the quantity and quality of members and participating workforce.

Regarding the 100 Cooperatives that won the Cooperative Star Award in 2024, which were honored this time, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to continue to take the lead in cooperation and linking production and business; building and developing product brands; enhancing competitiveness in domestic and international markets. Continue to devote efforts and intelligence, helping more cooperatives to develop.
The Deputy Prime Minister also affirmed: The Government will continue to accompany collective economic organizations and cooperatives, direct the development and completion of support mechanisms and policies, and create favorable conditions for the collective economic sector and cooperatives to develop rapidly and sustainably, contributing increasingly positively and effectively to the overall socio-economic development achievements of the country.
