On the morning of February 18, the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations (hereinafter referred to as the Union), in coordination with relevant departments and branches, organized a ceremony to honor the title of outstanding science and technology (S&T) intellectuals in 2024.

Based on the Regulations on selection and honoring of outstanding S&T intellectuals of the Provincial People's Committee, the Association - the Standing Body of the Selection Council has developed a plan and widely disseminated to agencies, units, districts, towns and cities in the province; relevant agencies and units about the organization of selection and honoring of outstanding S&T intellectuals of Thanh Hoa province in 2024. Agencies, organizations, units, member associations and affiliated units of the Association have organized the review and nomination of outstanding S&T intellectuals at the grassroots level. As a result, 486 intellectuals participated in the selection.
As of August 15, 2024, the standing body of the Selection Council has received nominations of 81 outstanding intellectuals of science and technology who are eligible for honor according to regulations; of which, intellectuals who are authors and project managers of projects that won the Third Prize of the National Technical Innovation Contest, the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award or higher are 4 people; intellectuals who are authors and project managers of projects and solutions that won the First Prize of the Thanh Hoa Technical Innovation Contest are 1 person; intellectuals who received the Nguyen Duc Canh Award are 7 people; intellectuals who received the Luong Dinh Cua Award are 7 people; intellectuals who are project managers of provincial-level or equivalent science and technology projects or higher that were accepted as excellent, period 2019 - May 2024 are 60 people; intellectuals with outstanding achievements in gathering, uniting and promoting the creativity of the team of intellectuals of science and technology are 2 people.
Based on the study of records and documents and after a period of urgent, serious and proper work, 100% of the members of the Council for selecting the title of outstanding intellectuals of science and technology of Thanh Hoa province in 2024 voted unanimously, selecting 10 outstanding intellectuals of science and technology to propose the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to consider recognizing and honoring the "Title of outstanding intellectuals of science and technology of Thanh Hoa province in 2024". On December 11, 2024, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 4889/QD-UBND on recognizing the title of outstanding intellectuals of science and technology of Thanh Hoa province in 2024.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations Pham Ngoc Linh and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang highly appreciated the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations and related departments and branches for successfully organizing two ceremonies in recent years and honoring 20 outstanding science and technology intellectuals.
Through honoring outstanding S&T intellectuals to encourage, motivate and inspire S&T intellectuals to participate in scientific research, technology development, and dissemination of S&T knowledge, contributing to the development of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Associations into a strong organization.
At the same time, it affirmed that the team of science and technology intellectuals in Thanh Hoa province is considered strong, with many scientists participating and winning high awards for innovation at the central and local levels; recognizing and highly appreciating the contributions of the team of science and technology intellectuals in the province to the overall development of the province.
Comrade Le Duc Giang, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Science and Technology Council spoke at the honoring ceremony.
Pointing out the remaining shortcomings and limitations in the past time, Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and Mr. Le Duc Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the departments, branches and sectors in the province to continue to pay attention and create conditions for the team of science and technology intellectuals, the core of which is the Thanh Hoa Provincial Union of Associations, to conduct research and develop technology, apply it to life, promote innovation activities, and contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, especially Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with the goal of Vietnam becoming a developed country by 2045.
The activities to honor outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals will continue to be organized with more lively activities, expanding the scope of intellectuals to be selected, thereby honoring many intellectuals who are shining examples in labor, scientific and technological creativity, with many achievements in research and development of technological innovation, contributing to the overall development of Thanh Hoa province.
